The last day to donate is here. I know they don't need the money at this point, but I'm sure they want our support, so I'm going to ask everyone to run and donate to Yooka-Laylee. One last time. I donated more money to them today then I have spent on video games in the last 6 months. Why? Because I believe in them, and the work they are doing. It's not about the money for them. They are approaching game creation the way Rareware was known for in the 90's which was a very friendly, "fun first" attitude. If you don't donate today, then you missed your opportunity to do so. Don't miss your opportunity. Let's vote with our dollars, and give our lowest common denominator not to a hollow phone app, piece of DLC, unhealthy junk food, or stale muffin at Cafe 64, but to the reason to what got us all into games in the first place, fun. I might just be getting older, but I feel like investing into things I would want to play now, will have a positive effect on the future rather than laying back and being at the mercy of whatever developer (indie or otherwise) throws my way. We feel this in the disappointment we have coming out of E3 every year. The big hyped "surprise" is usually something we couldn't care less about. Personally, I think that's EXACTLY what has happened with me and Nintendo, and why I don't own a Wii U. They don't make/support the games I'm interested in anymore and that makes it really hard to invest $300 in them when I'm at the mercy of whether or not the 5 games they release this year will cater to me interests and be worth my gaming dollar. That's just an example of where I'm coming from. I guess what I'm trying to say is that a program like kickstarter affords us the opportunity to literally do a "shut up and take my money" meme when we believe in product. This is wonderful because it means more developers can take more risks on older ideas and through meeting their goals they can gauge public interest. Let's face it. The reasons why we don't have sequels (spiritual or otherwise) to games we've loved in the past is because when marketing research interviews the loud majority via sales figures, all hands point towards COD clones, GTA clones, and Uncharted clones, which is why I buy two games a year, rather than ten.

Speaking of Nintendo though, apparently that new game Splatoon is fantastic amounts of fun

It's definitely on my list of games I'll be checking out when I finally get a Wii U. It's just too bad the only must have killer app for the system Zelda, isn't coming out till next year. In all likelihood, holiday of next year. That game looks like it could be worth the $300 buy-in price alone.
On Topic: In case you missed it, if you have the money, did you know this game is coming out on an N64 cart for people who pledge enough. For poor people like me, there is an N64 shader option for the current gen version that makes it look the way I suspect it will on N64. Then, consider the local co-ops and competitive multiplayer, and you can see a little Bad Fur Day influence there. Just saying that this game is probably going to be worth the $23 you can pledge for the console digital edition. Plus you get your name in the Special Thanks credits which is always cool. Should be out October 2016. Bout the same time as Zelda U most likely.

I most definitely backed this game for many of the reasons that you stated. I am super stoked for this game. I feel like someone is finally listening and for that they will get my support. Lets face it both Rare and Microsoft know what we want. They don't want to listen which I get but, some bones could have been thrown our way. Playtonic is listening so they get my love and my support and as much free advertising as I can give. Imo they deserve it.

I hope those are reproduction carts.
I know it's just a flash drive. It's still awesome that these are being made legitimately (instead of shotty etsy projects) for people who donated enough.
