Yeah it's totally a popularity contest. We vote for people to speak for us as congress but other than the presidential election, you need to go out of your way to know when voting for such people is going in. If they sent out a ballot through the mail and all you had to do is put an X in the box and put it back in the mail box to be picked up the next day a promise this country would be different.
The little people trying to make ends meat that have no interest, never mind time or energy to go to the court house and vote would finally have a say. Health Care could be "free" through taxes, gun laws would be much more strict, marijuana would be legal and regulated and I would think twice about moving out of this country.
In history, a people would either revolt, or leave when a king was ruling in a way they did not see fit. I am convinced now that not only is the system in the USA broken, but it wont even start to mend in foreseeable future. The worse part... I think our elected "king" could do a fine job of ruling. It's the people that need to change.

the thing about the "bearing arms" amendment is that it was written in a time when: A) either the British empire or a red Indian would knock on your door and put an arrow/bullet between your eyes B ) rifles took a billion years to reload and weren't entirely accurate. neither of those things apply any more. nobody needs weapons (except maybe farmers)there just isn't any point trying to hold onto them. Target shooting; fair enough but you don't really need to keep the rifle handy at all times. also at the time you could go down to the general store and buy the exact same rifle as the military fielded as a "military grade weapon" now you would have to wait and then pay a shit ton of money ( in the ten thousands) for a full auto weapon that shouldn't be in the hands of a common citizen anyway, and i dont support firearms from the military being in the hands of a common citizen, also living in the south( which sucks) and getting into arguments about firearms that everybody likes to bring up the fact that in the second amendment you need guns to stand up to a tyranical government, but what most probably know (hopefuly) that if the government wanted to control you the way they want you to, your fucked theres nothing you can do.

I'm independent, not liberal i completelty with that statement, i'm independent like you, but i hate the term liberal because i hate being sheeped into a group like democratic and republican because i'm neither i believe in a little of both, but if i say i'm democratic that obviously meens i believe in all democratic ideals to most people, but then if i say i'm liberal i'm a tree loving son of a bitch when it really meens i'm independent of the ideals of democrats and republicans. i really got off on a tangent lol
