Identity crisis is a great way to put it. This game killed me probably 15 times in an hour because it encourages fighting when you need to run. It's backwards. The "psychological horror" part is just stupid. It's all blood and guts and ghosts and knifes and everything. Just imagine everything that might make you uncomfortable, put it in a room, then remove the feeling of discomfort, knowing something is going to try to kill you very soon...

The "psychological horror" part is just stupid. I found throughout the entire game it was almost always in the form of a cut-scene not what I was expecting. If you played Eternal Darkness or fought psycho mantis you would know what I was looking for.

I still stand by what I said, it is probably the easiest survival horror game I have played. In the footage I used for the Evil Within video I pretty much just walked back and forward when "fighting" that boss. I think you are right about the story and the atmosphere, it is very good. It might be the only reason I am playing on.

Oh I was playing on normal, I almost always play games on normal first time around. I tried to start on hard with Alien and that did not go well!

(sorry for getting back so late) that boss fight is supposed to be avoided as he can kill you in one hit and you cant kill it. and after playing through the games on a harder difficulty i find that the silent hill series is more forgiving on the lower levels of difficulty however when played on the hardest difficulty the game can give a pretty good challenge and in the third game it will beat your ass relentlessly.

Sounds good, I am looking forward to playing it on hard and looking forward to playing Silent Hill 3. Did you play Silent Hill 1 much? I only ever played the demo and I found it pretty difficult.
