Yeah really. It's a shame considering how handy it would be to have the extra R&D help.

MMCC0203 "Quite an incredible game so far. The boss fight with a certain sniper reminds of the The End from MGS3 in many ways." I am asking you MMCC because I know you have played Peace Walker. What gameplay mechanics have they added to PP that PW didn't have? I am in no way saying PW is a BETTER game but I am curious to hear what is new in PP that we didn't see in PW or Farcry 3/4. I can already name one thing PP doesn't have which PW had, co-op for all single player and co-op missions. So far I'd say it's a natural evolution more than anything else. In PW you couldn't customize or get out and explore Mother Base like you can in TPP. It's also a nice touch that improving a unit actually impacts various things out in the field this time around. It makes sense that expanding/improving something like your support team would give you more options on the battlefield (i.e., air strikes, CAS, etc., or, in the case of your med team, improved chances of fultoning an injured soldier if it's up to spec). The changes aren't revolutionary on their own, but combined with the open-world and the ridiculous variety of tools you can carry into it, I don't think I've ever played a stealth game this deep. This will be a 100+ hour game for me easily.

I can't help make the comparison between A Link to the Past and Ocarina of time. Other than a 3D graphics engine and an Ocarina it's relatively the same game as is Peace Walker to The Phantom Pain. (Note: I have not played Peace Walker.)
All four games mentioned came predominantly from the mind of a single person and both Miyamoto and Kojima used every tool at their disposal to tell a story, the best way they possibly could, with the technology the project calls for. Is OOT better than ALttP? It's personal preference. These arnt even bi-annual franchises, after all.
In my opinion, like any good sequel, The Phantom Pain has the potential to be the best in the series. It takes mechanics found throughout the series 25-year history, as well as borrows from other games in the open-world genre to create something that feels right for the main characters narrative. Metal Gear as a series is about story, and engaging stealth based gameplay. I see nothing but improvement in the changes that come with MGSV.

Metal Gear as a series is about story, and engaging stealth based gameplay. I see nothing but improvement in the changes that come with MGSV. I just what to respond to that end part and throw a cat amongst the pigeons, I see some improvements and some deterioration. 1. Metal Gear as a series is about story except it has to be said this Metal Gear has nowhere near as many cutscenes as the older games. 2. Snake is not David Hayter and it is pretty annoying, not that it really matters because as you can see from number 1 Snake has about one line per cutscene 3. There is no co-op yet we can play co-op with AI? 4. Yes we can now land on mother base but wow is it tedious and pointless. 5. The chopper after every mission and credits after every mission is a waste of my time, yes I can skip them but why after every mission?! There are other things I don't like about the game which I will probably put in a video at some point. I just can't say there are "nothing but improvements" but there are moments where the game is very good I just think some of the choices were silly.

I'm still understanding the story quite well, and it's of typical, exelent, Metal Gear Quality.
I have yet to see he end of the story. It is an odd decision to replace Hayter, but it feels too soon for me personally, to pass judgment... and I honestly was not expecting co-op at all. They never mentioned co-op in the promotions so as much as a missed opportunity as it is, it's not a let down. Really do wish they had co-op though. MGSV is not a perfect game but I can tell you that I'm enjoying it immensely.

I agree that its too early to comment on a lot of stuff in the game until we complete it and get to play the mystery online mode. Co-op was never confirmed but it was seen in the menus of the game which made me and a friend think it would have it.

The lack of online support will be a cliff note in my review. Some games can't stand on their own without online but I have been hooked on this game for nearly a week without touching its online. I'm not arguing with you. Once I beat the story, if there isn't more to do, ill go online and hope everything works. This game is like Skyrim in its value to me. Not as deep but I'm hoping a new game plus or some unlockables at the end will keep things interesting.
**minor spoilers** Just met this kid named Eli in the game. He's a brat. He looks and has the same accent as another character from the series and now I need to hold myself back from racing to the end of the game to get the story. The range of characters in the game means I have yet to get bored with the story, which for a video game today is a milestone in itself.
Something tells me ill be pining for those MGS1/MGS2 remakes Kojima wanted to do. I wonder if well get a Solid Snake collection, and a Big Boss Collection down the road. MGS1 needs a remake like yesterday.
