I just watched one of the best documentaries I have seen for years called room 237 it is about The Shinning and the hidden meaning Stanley Kubrick hid through out the movie. Some of these are over analysed but when you watch you will find that doesnt matter. Basically you will find loads of different meanings from genocide to sexual repression to faking the moon landings! Some of it is silly some of it great but its the best explanation of The Shinning I have ever seen.

I should have said something. I saw this a month ago and while I think they are overanalysing quite a bit it just goes to show how great The Shining is as a film. At times, Room 237 is mind numbing in that you can tell that some nerd with way too much time on his hands watched this movie for days on end, piecing to gether every relation to everything. I think Kevin Bacon was in The Shining... I ramble. If you are a fan of The Shining than see this film. It's crazy to think how deep The Shining is or can be. I could never make a list but The Shining is in my Top 5 greatest films of all time for sure.

Um, I got the most basic version I could find. Are you familiar with the term "video nasty"? There is a good chance all the European versions are cut.

Ah dammit I think you are right... I will look for a US version. The parts I seen on Room 237 were things like Danny and his mum watching tv and a doctor visiting Danny... Maybe I just wasn't paying attention. Must watch it again for about the 10th time!lol

Have not seen that either. Much like David Lynch Kubrick is one of those directors whos work I love but know very little of what goes on behind the scenes. I like it better that way for some of there darkest films. One David Lynch film has me afraid to even look it up. It's my version of hell.

I am not even sure I know much of David lynch's work I remember I looked him up but I must do it again. I really can urge you enough to watch the boxes documentary.
