Yeah more base and over all louder. Too bad the enemies were more or less bullet sponges unless you jumped through hoops to kill them. I mean the Prometheans of course.

IIRC using their own weapons was the best way to killing them... Their machinegun thing tore through their shields, and you could drop them pretty quickly with the lightrifle and headshots

Yeah in Halo it's always best to fight enemies with their own weapons. It's logical. I just didn't like the Knights teleporting around, the crawlers, evading the hell out of my fire, pretty much insisting on a head shot or total waste of ammo, and the watchers being that button you had to push in order to even start to killing the rest of them.
At least the flood were straight forward rush enemies, easy to kill. The brutes were the same way, the elites were a bit tougher and you had to be careful with the hunters. The Jackals were similar to the crawlers but wearnt too so fast and hard to headshot. The only "please, never again" enemy I can think of are the buggers and all the Prometheans.

God I hated buggers... I generally used the pistol for the crawlers though, generally worked well until you ran outta ammo

Yeah I don't know if there was a lack of ammo or the enemys just take more but it felt like a choir fighting them.

It's annoying in games when guns sound like a child coughing.

Yeah I remember Halo 3. The AR sounded like an Airsoft gun while the SMG sounded like an Assault Rifle.
