Beautiful, just beautiful.
This trailer alone makes me want to set aside ambitions to buy an Xbox One or PS4 and go straight to the Wii U.

Yeah, a little surprised that Nintendo mentioned nothing of a Majoras Mask remake for the 3DS or that rumored new console. Maybe both don't exist.

It's amazing how something as simple as individual blades of grass blowing in the wind on a sprawling landscape can take a game from beautiful to breath taking.

This looks identical to Skyward Sword's art style with more graphical fidelity IMO. It seems like they're going for that watercolor painting look again.
I feel like Nintendo is going to tread water yet again with this Zelda and play it safe both aesthetically and thematically. I want a Zelda with a completely off-the-wall art style and a more adult story that tackles more complex issues, but that seems to be something only a Majora's Mask sequel can deliver. With every new Zelda title that's been revealed over the past decade MM has felt more and more like a fluke.
Then again It's probably not fair to judge a game based on concept footage. Art style tends to speak a thousand words when it comes to Zelda games though.

I know what you mean, I would love a darker Zelda like MM. MM came after OoT using the same engine maybe the same will happen on the Wii U.

Personally I don't think we can actually speak a whole lot on how dark this game will get, it's still FAR too early days for those kinds of shenanigans... As for the art style being similar to Skyward Sword, I would say yes and no... Weirdly I feel it's somewhere between Skyward Sword, Twilight Princess and Wind Waker combined... I can see that they've pulled elements of art styles from all three games together for this one

What I'll never get is the backlash Zelda is prone to since Wind Waker when it comes to art style. Yeah a was pretty turned off by the art myself, but when I saw the gameplay I never looked back. Now we have this attempt at a happy medium and there are still people boycotting cell shaded games.

It's because the tech demo for the Gamecube featured a realistic-looking zelda video. People assumed that the next Zelda was being worked on and that that was the artstyle it was going to use. At the time, tech-demos were also super early sneak peaks for upcoming titles, so the assumption wasn't without reason.
It looked absolutely stunning at the time and when the Wind Waker trailer finally came out in it's cell-shaded form, you bet your ass people felt betrayed.
This was not the Zelda we where shown at E3. Not the Zelda that we felt we deserved.
That resentment, though diminished, still echoes today.

I noticed the Wii U tech demo and the actual game look quite different as well. I don't mind though.

Yeah, they made sure that everyone knew that the Wii U tech demo was in no way part of any upcoming Zelda game this time lol

This looks identical to Skyward Sword's art style with more graphical fidelity IMO. It seems like they're going for that watercolor painting look again. Upon closer inspection, I've began to see just how different this game looks in comparison to Skyward Sword. Where Skyward Sword looks very unique with everything looking like it was painted by hand with subtle brush strokes and watercolor clearly present in ever area of presentation, this new Wii U trailer looks much closer to an oil painting which incidentally looks like the digital animation of recent Anime films like Arrietty. This could be a shot from Arrietty or from Zelda: Wii U. You decide. Zelda Wii U looks quite different from any game we've seen in the series history. It's just hard to tell at a glance.

I like cell-shaded and generally stylistic graphics, but I agree with you that an MM sequel would be way better.
