This is a new video project for anyone who has ever lost the ability to properly play one of their favourite games due to bad remakes, poor sequels, legal issues, etc. What game did you love playing that you can no longer currently play? What sequel have you played that didn’t even feel like a true sequel? If you could have any game re released or remade on current gen what game would it be and why? This could be a lengthy project depending on how many people are interested, we will make several 10 min videos on certain games and one large video to pull it all together in a documentary style. How can you get involved? You can either submit your script on the game you want in the video, or you can submit your narration for your chosen game. Just going to tag some members here who I think might be interested @blade Runner 07 Xargen Foof811 Lenrat117 MMCC0203 Greenfire32 asoldierbear @silent Sputnik shabbycat @saintoffortune2 conrod15review Vote4Pedro rev86 husky199370 Shawnsim multigamejunkie

Straight up; Alundra had a "sequel"... I'm pretty sure they only called it Alundra 2 to sell copies of the game because it had NOTHING to do even remotely with the first one Script Ok, so Alundra is one of my favourite PS1 games of all time... It's an adventure game and I'd say it has a similar feel as Zelda, especially the top down ones such as Link to the Past. In Alundra you play as, wait for it, Alundra, who we find out has the ability to enter peoples dreams and change the outcome. Alundra has been plagued by dreams about a land called Inoa, though I think in the map that came with your game referenced it as "Iona"... Anyway, you are on this ship that ends up shipwrecked in a storm and found on a beach by a man named Jess, then boom, you're off on your adventure, we'll not get too tied down with the details of the adventure and instead focus on how the game actually works. You start off with nothing but a sword and some armour that doesn't even really give you any damage resistance, but as you make your way through your quest your inventory soon fills up with items and weapons, such as bows, fire and ice wands, the flail which is pretty badass and the illusive spirit wand which is completely optional that you can get by collecting 50 gilded falcons. Items include magic books, different healing items, spring bean which creates a spring plant when thrown on specific platforms, bombs, the sand cape which lets you dive under sand, and some more optional things from gilded falcons that increase defense, damage output and one that slowly regains hp if you stand still... You also gain equipment like better armours and some boots that let you walk unhindered by shallow water, some that let you swim and some that let you walk over lava without taking damage, all without having to swap them out which is nice. Overall the game holds platforming and puzzle elements combined with some solid combat, all with a touch of very dark and sinister elements in the story, along with one character who I absolutely loathe, and I wouldn't be surprised if everyone who's played the game loathed them too.
Anyway, as I say I LOVED this game as a kid, and even today I still love it, it's one of the best adventure games I've ever played, so imagine my joy when I was in GAME one day and saw there, sitting on the shelf Alundra 2... I could hardly believe it, I rushed over to it to see what it was like... The back didn't give much of the story away, or if it did I missed it as I was blown away by the fact that it was done in 3D. It was like the step between Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time, but in one consoles lifespan! Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately I guess, I didn't get the game at that time... It was years later that I got the chance to play it. So, starting up Alundra 2, you play the character of, wait for it, Flint... Wait, Flint? Not Alundra? Uh, ok, fair enough, anyway, you play as Flint in this all new 3D world, and by "all new" I mean it, you start out on an airship... A freaking airship... If you've been watching the clips of Alundra at this point, you'll maybe notice that an airship would be WAY out of place in this world, but we can look past that... Right? Aaaaanyway we find out that Flint here is a Pirate Hunter, which, yeah ok, I guess there might be pirates in the first Alundra? I mean, the crew of the ship your on at the start and later end up in the bar LOOK like pirates, but apparently they're just sailors... Anyway there are guys with wind-up keys in their backs that make them unintelligible, turns out some powerful sorcerer has been doing it, also turning animals into monsters... Anyway, one of the pirates on the airship find Flint and a fight breaks out, damaging the airship and, oh hey look, some similarity between the games, you both start off with a ship crashing and washing up ashore! You're rescued by a villager and taken in, soon after teaming up with a princess. As far as weapons go, you get a sword, and for the rest of your equipment, you get a shield... No more array of weapons for different scenarios, though you do get magic rings and other items which have to be placed in pockets for their effects to be useful... I think I'm gonna have to actually play through Alundra 2 now to make the rest of this script... I didn't get far before thinking "Man... This is NO Alundra" and turning it off, though apparently it's a pretty good game in itself

Well you are welcome to make that your contribution if you can talk about it length. Is there anything else like it today, or even back then?

The whole Fable Series was kind of a disappointment.

What we are looking for is for you to write, and eventually voice your opinion. We will show footage of whatever game your talking about as the voice-over players. Try to keep it focused.
This will eventually make it into the series but the whole point of the documentary is to show the unique position video games as an industry are in right now. Having seen the evolution of interactive entertainment over the last 40 years, and compared to every other form of art, video games are the only media with an actual, and disturbingly short, life cycle.
While 99% of feature films in the last 50 years have seen new life on multiple formats, 75% of video games in the last 40 years (good or bad) will never have a legitimate life outside of their aging cartridges. YES. Emulators and mods will be represented in one of the episodes. That doesn't effect the point though. Most movies, sculptures, paintings, songs, and books we enjoyed in the past can still be experienced today, in there original form, without the age of the format hindering enjoyment of the medium.
The Mona Lisa, The Godfather, A Tale of Two Cities, The David Statue, Eine kleine Nachtmusik. What they all have in common is that we can enjoy them as much today, as the generations before us have enjoyed them in their original form.
I believe this point is too great to be stuck on an internet forum, presented as one mans opinion when I know many of us share similar feelings.

My vote goes to Perfect Dark Zero, the unrequited blunder of the century in my opinion. Not a bad game in it's own right, but did not even live up to a tenth of it's expectations. I'll edit my post with my script when I think it up

Do poor ports of games onto PC count? Resident evil 4 HD would be a contender then.

If we were only going to talk about the game purgatory Goldeneye 64 is in right now that we could make an 8 minute video and Call it good. We all deserve to be heard, in full, on a global stage that happens to be youtube.

Right now, no. JMMREVIEW is busy as hell right now, I'm moving to literally the opposite side of the world, and I haven't got a screen play to stand on quite yet.
So do it at your leisure but remember that we DO want your opinion and WILL use it. This is and always will be a community. As GoldenEdge Gamings first youtube video, we all need to be involved, or it's not ours, it's not us.
Maaaaan that sounded dramatic.... I'll keep it.

I think I'm gonna have to actually play through Alundra 2 now to make the rest of this script... I didn't get far before thinking "Man... This is NO Alundra" and turning it off, though apparently it's a pretty good game in itself You wouldn't have to complete it or anything, just play the first 10 minutes and compare it to the original. Are you playing it on your PC? I am just thinking about how we are going to get footage of it.
