Well as you all know I've been playing a metric crap ton of Project Zomboid, and I'm here to ask people to share there survival stories while in game.
This is for the game play if you haven't seen it.
Now on to my story!
So I've been surviving for a while in the game and I'll share with you my story of woe
me and my friend where playing some Zomboid together collecting loot stacking up resources you know surviving.
We built a pretty decent base in a warehouse all the windows are boarded up couple beds, fridge, campfire outside for cooking...anyways because our base is on the outskirts of a town raids by the undead are really common, and we have to fight them off everyday to keep the population down well one day an undead raid came to us with the biggest bloody horde I've seen and we end up burning most of our ammo to fight it off after killing about 600+ zombies we have only a few shells left for our shotguns lucky enough we weren't bit or anything and nothing got damaged, but we needed ammo otherwise if there was another of that size again we would surely die so we decide to go the the police station.
At the police station there's a fair amount of Zombies nearby so we sneak in and try all the doors, all of them are locked by this time my friend is starting to starve so he sets off to go and get some food while I try to find another way in after looking around for about five minuets there's no way in so I decide to smash the window and open up the door from the inside...after smashing the window the buildings alarm sets off alerting every horde in the city I make a snap decision to run in bag all the ammo and get out as quickly as possible run into the evidence room and snag all the ammo and guns.
I'm loaded down with everything and can barely move so I make my break from the front exit when there's a massive bloody horde pouring in from the front through the broken window and open door "Bollocks" so I decide to run for the back entrance and as I open the door another horde pours in from the back "Well shit" I'm pinned at both sides and make a break for the toilets hoping there is a window I can climb out of, I get into the toilet and much to my dismay there is no window so I hide in the toilet cubical with all the zombies banging down the door.
At this point I decide to contact my friend for help and ask him to lead the Zombies away so I can escape and bring the loot back home he replies with: "I'm on my way just hold up" he shows up pretty quickly and I start hearing shots go off as he is shooting the zombies trying to lead them away but it's too late they've broken down the door and are in the toilets with me banging on my cubical door they eventually brake down the cubical door and I get all of about three shots off before getting eaten alive, now we have nothing gained from the raid and he is forced to retreat.
My friend comes back a few in game days and starts hunting down my newly undead character eventually tracks him to a house a little whiles away from the Police station kills my character and grabs all the ammo off of him brings it back to base and we now have some more ammo to survive the next zombie assault.
This is why I like the game because my simple lack in judgement almost cost us and massive ton of ammo instead of waiting for the alarm to go off and the zombies to clear out I decided to run in and take a chance to get the much needed resources quicker which didn't pay off teaching me to not take chances like that in a zombie apocalypse.
It was like a scene from The Walking Dead and it was Beautiful!!!
