"Thou shalt not kill" is actually only meant to relate to people in your clan/group/family/tribe, which I find unsurprising and disgusting

I was going to post George Carlin's videos, but I wasn't sure if they would be too edgy or not. Especially his "Tips For Serial Killers" video.

One of my favorite Carlin bits:
It's an impressive thing to dismantle the Judeo-Christian god in a little over a minute.

He feeds off of shock laughs. In his early years he pushed the boundries for what you could say in stand up and worked more and more of that material as his career went on. His last few stand up specials were about 95% shock laughs and I can't say I agree with everything he has said.
There is a fine line between pokeing fun at and just being disrespectful. He is still a great person to watch. Clever if not a bit rude at times. He died almost 5 years ago.

People need a dose of reality every once and a while regardless of whether or not it may inconvenience them. And really, even if Carlin did rely heavily upon shock value, what comedian doesn't? It seems like you're making a few generalizations here. Care to provide a specific example in one of his bits?

Well as much as I agree with George and man do I agree with him in oh so many ways. There are a few things he says where he talks about people in ways that are disrespectful even if he doesnt mean it.
For instance he talks about the guys that walk around thinking they are bad ass but really they are just ass holes. He at one point calls it "marine bullshit".
Personally: My family has a long history of military service and while I have not agreed with the United States involvment in any war/conflict in the past 60 years, I respect the fact if only the fact, that boys and girls were sent to their deaths. They didn't come home, and mom cried. That is what I see. Even if these fools actually volenteered it's still tragic.
I understand that he was talking about the "alpha male" douchebaggery that I see on at least a weekly basis in my home town and I couldnt agree with George more that these guys can go walk off a cliff. The marine line was just a little much but for me, imediatly forgiven if always remembered and seen as disrespect. He's a funny guy and almost never crosses the line.

All I can say is if you set out to offend people then you have crossed the line, I dont think he did I think he *mostly* set out to tell the truth or at least the truth as he seen it

What I refrence to was all in the way he said it. The "marine bullshit" line I speak of was taken out of context. I need to explain that.
He was just generelizing that who he was talking about think they are the "best of the best" as people are lead to believe members of the Marine Corps are. That is what he meant. It's just Carlin is so good at presentation, when he says something like that it really sticks out to me. I'm not sure he chose his words quite carfully enough. He is a master like no other in walking that thin line and it's so rare he says something that makes me go "now wait a minute".
I have a problem with war and any conflict in general but when someone says something off color about soldiers that willingly or unwillingly signed their asses off to their government I see these people as blind fools or victims respectivley of a broken system. I would have said it different. That is all.
P.S. If thinking that Aliens are real is wrong then I don't want to be right.

I'm pretty sure that aliens are real, and I'm sure a lot of the members of this forum do too, however, thinking that aliens visited us and gave us maths and stuff like that? I'mma have to pass on that thanks

He's my second favourite comedian besides Louis C.K. I've never been offended by anything George has said.
