So I had already planned on getting a Wii U before the end of 2015 but after Zelda U was delayed, and with all this NX talk about, I'm not sure if I'm ready to buy one now. If in 12 months a backwards compatible NX is announced, I might as well wait and get that.
Wii U has never been an easy sell for me. It's less powerful than any current gen console and only has a handful of games I'm interested in. I'm no good at Mario Kart and Smash Bros. and all but one of this years games have been the least bit appealing to me.
Nintendo has always been for me about two franchises Super Mario Bros. and Legend of Zelda. Those were my killer apps. Sure, Mario Maker, Wind Waker, and Mario 3D World would entertain us for a couple months but I know we would soon be back at the mercy of whatever Nintendo is putting out. If a new console with tech comparable to PS4/XONE as many have speculated, is coming in 2016 then why get a Wii U at all? If I get one it'll be a black friday discount.

Maybe its because I barely get time to play the games I already have but as much as I like the look of Mario Maker I know if I get it (or any other game for the WiiU) I wont play it much.
I would say once they announce a new Zelda game get a Wii U, but that doesn't seem to be happening which worries me.

Well that Zelda game is announced. It's no question that the next Nintindo Direct is going to be big. Nintendo needs to come clean about what it's doing so people like me can make a decision.
Ill probably have a Wii U by December unless they speak up soon, I'll still be happy if we get Twilight Princess HD. Nintendo can even push Zelda u to the NX and not even release it on Wii U. All will be forgiven because Nintendo makes a good Mario and Zelda game once ever 5 years and Amiibos are so collectable.
