I thought I would get into the Halloween spirit this year and finally make a video I should have made years ago! Most zombie fans have a list of their favourite zombie movies, everyones order is different but most of the movies are the same. I would love to hear your order in the comments. You can also watch it on Patreon

On Dawn of the dead:
I wish they would make a game that pretty much follows the story of Dawn of the Dead. I could already see it on the FOX engine. They could have other humans come try to loot your mall and you can either fight them off, set traps, or hide to avoid the risk of permadeath all together, and let them take what they want. It would be real players doing this too. Maybe make it so if your raiding another persons place, you can only carry so much so you gotta prioritize. If you go straight for the guns, you'll become encumbered really fast, but might make off with some better guns, on the flip side, if your after food or medicine you can carry more.
So many games these days dance around this ideal zombie game I've wanted since I first saw Dawn of the Dead. I would say SoD2 could take place in a huge mall, and do all of this as they already have a similar foundation to build upon, but it's likely they will stick with an open world.

I think everyone has wanted that game since watching Dawn, another thing that would be cool is that you COULD leave the mall at any time but you will most likely die so you have to keep coming back. The trouble with a game like this is once the mall is secure the game wouldn't be much fun just like in the movie.
It would have to be somewhat story driven but more organic than Dead Rising

If you remember I already wrote a the layout for a game like that. I know it's about as futile as trying to build a better military shooter but hey. Lets dream.
Once the mall is secure, you have all the Zeds outside of the mall to deal with. More and more come each day. Blocking the entrance with trucks will slow them, and raiders down but they will never stop.
If you can survive the raids and Zeds long enough, remember that everything in the stores is finite and once it runs out you'll need to eventually choose to get on the heli and end the game. Scores will be tallied.
You have either A.I. driven raiders to deal with, or other player driven raiders and of course the ideal would be 4-player co-op.
Also as artificial extending and tedious as it may seem, once those zombies drop over, they stay there. Moral and eventually health will begin to be effected with a thousand corpses lying about. You have to pick each one up and pile them on a dolly and deliver the dolly to the freezer, or burn them outside. Depending on your decision you will have extra food in the freezer, but fight the Undead army outside, or keep them in the freezer and sacrifice that contaminated food.
If we had the resources I would want to kickstart this game. Depending on the stretch goals and whether they're met, means adding new content and extending the game beyond the mall would be an option.

Why this game has never been made is beyond me, it would be my dream job to work on something like that, the only problem is I don't know the first thing about making a game.
Maybe we could get John Common to help!lol I know that if I ever had the chance to make a game, a survival sim in a mall would be the first game I would make. Second game being a FPS!
