I post this in the Blade Runner thread because I see it as one of "those" films
Why is it movies have alternative endings and beginnings?
Blade Runner is guilty of this along with the whole "is he an andy isnt he an andy". A more recent and more annoying example of this is Prometheus (another Ridley Scott movie) I went to see this at the cinema and somewhat enjoyed it but then what felt like a week later this came out
Really what is it? can the director or producer just not decide what way to end or start the movie? what is the true ending and dont tell me I should chose the ending, that is just lazy story telling if you ask me!
Am I the only person who finds this annoying?

While it's all fun to explore and stuff, I find endings like that where you're told to "pick your own" is pretty much stating that the end of the franchise is there... If there's no true ending, then how would it be referenced in other works?

I like movies where everyone dies at the end, like kill bill now that is a true "ending"

I agree JMM. I'm not annoyed with Blade Runner though. They just chopped off the tip of the tail end of the movie for the Directors Cut and Final Cut. That is fine.
It's when they have a fully edited ending with FX and everything in that I wonder who was smoking what. ONE ENDING can be the true ending and if that means the bad guy/good guy dies SO BE IT.
People praise certin movies for their dark endings then we find out there was an alternate ending where everyone lives and is happy. Yeah, take away all the meaning and feeling and turn it into a damn fairy tale.
The original ending of Blade Runner had Rachael and Deckard driving through the mountains smiling with that voice over saying they were special and it's suggested they can live a very long and happy life together.
The better and official R. Scott ending has them fleeing his apartment building with Deckard picking up a unicorn oragomi suggesting that Gaff had been there and was going to let them run because "she won"t live". Deckard stairs at the wall for a second, nods, and turns, grabs rachael, they get into the elevator, door slides shut. Credits. Damn right. GREAT ending.

I like the alternate ending to Euro Trip... He finally finds the girl, pours his heart out and she's all like "Um... I only like you as a friend..." hilarious!
