"Duchamp is considered by many to be one of the most important artists of the 20th century" I wouldnt go that far but he certainly was very important. He was part of the "Dada" movement that aimed to attack high art, art with a capital A. "Nude Descending a Staircase" Duchamp firsts and most well known attack was on the famous Mona Lisa by drawing a moustache on her face. Many have made versions of the Mona Lisa but Duchamp was the first well known. This is the piece I want to talk about, there was an open submission for artwork Duchamp entered a toilet and called it "Fountain" Fountain is an example of what Duchamp called a 'readymade' he believe there was already so much beauty in the work why should we make more. What is more important about this artwork is that now anything and everything (as long as there is a message behind it) can be artwork. Some more "readymade" artwork
