I actually agree with casting her as Racheal. She looks the part and can probably act the part. Everything else is facking sick. I almost lost it when I read the topic. I was like: NO. No. No. No. No. No.
If they are going to soft reboot it with "new model" Rach and Decks replicants set in the same universe with an old Deckard and Racheal cameo... maybe that could work. I would still like to see a straight sequal or nothing at all.
Seeing an old Harrison Ford as Deckard step into the shoes of Roy Batty in facing his own death could be great.

Katy perry as Rachel?! No way she may look the part but she can't act the part, krysten Ritter is a much better choice, not only does she look the part but I'm sure she can act it to, and kayne west?! That's like casting Nicholas cage as deckard, rautger hauer did such a great job as Roy batty and in my opinion the second best actor In the movie and his best role, but kayne west? Are you kidding, who ever is doing casting either needs to get his shit together and stop trying to cast pop stars for important film rolls or needs to take a walk from the job.

Luckily it's just speculation by MTV. I'd boycott the shit out of this otherwise. Rutger Hauer definitely needs to make an appearance in BR2 one way or another. Batty was a great character.

why are they even making BR2? Good question. As groundbreaking as Blade Runner was at the time, all of the elements that it introduced or popularized have been done to death in other scifi movies since then. Also, I don't want to see them ruin BR with CGI. Part of what made the original so great was the fact that it was entirely analogue; everything was an in-camera effect, and the backdrops were created entirely from sets, model work and matte paintings. If you've ever seen the Dangerous Days documentary, you'd know that they got a better performance out of the actors because they were essentially forced to live in the world of BR while they were on the foggy, rain-soaked set. In today's world of CGI you'd never see anything like that. Nobody wants to pay to shoot a scifi movie on location in real time anymore. They just round up all the actors, put them in front of a green screen in a place much like a sterile laboratory, and let computers do the rest. Though with Scott directing, who knows. I know he did a lot of traditional set stuff with Prometheus.

Ridley Scott is the master of special effects. He knows when to use digital effects and when to use practical. say what you want about Prometheus (messy, plot hole ridden baloney) It's effects are terrific.

Katy Perry could be Racheal in a remake. Why the hell else would the recast the character. She has the look, the voice, and if we are going to be honest, its not a terribly complex or demanding role.
