I am going to buy Mario Kart 8 when it comes out on the 30th of May. So I was thinking I will need some extra pads for friends to play when they call around but the cheapest I could find the Wii U pad was £80! I came across this Pro controller on ebay for £20 which is pretty cool and could be used for retro gaming too. Hell I could buy 3 of these and would still save money! I just wanted to post here first incase anyone knew about any other controllers? The only person I know with a Wii U is jayloonar but if anyone else knows about a better controller I am all ears!

My advice, don't buy 3rd party Wii U controllers LOL. This controller in particular is actually a Wii classic controller, not a Wii U pro controller....I'm 80% positive on that. Since you have a Wii, I suggest using your Wii remote and nunchuck, your Wii U gamepad, an actual Wii U pro controller, and if you're low on money I guess you can try buying this 3rd party controller, you might be disappointed as many reviewers are unhappy with this controller. I really recommend the official Wii U pro controller however.

Always go first party if u can. The thing is, I was able to play Mario Kart Wii relatively easily with just a Wii remote. The issue I.would worry about is if it's 3rd party "Wii" controller it may only work for Wii games.

Yeah man. The resale value is crap too. I never liked the "Classic" controllers Nintendo made. I think they peaked at the GameCube and should have just kept producing a streamlined wave bird for the Wii and Wii U.

To be honest the GameCube controller is my least favorite controller from Nintendo. I didnt hate it or anything and I would say it is miles better than the PS2 controller but there was something about the bumper buttons I didnt like and the C stick was too fiddly.

I think the stick placement and the size for my then 13 year-old hands was ideal. It's a little cramped but I couldn't ask for better face button placement. Just look at the Classic Controller Pro for Wii. It's a mess.
Anyway I guess the point I was making is while i wouldn't play any fast paced competitive online FPS with the Gamecube controller, It's miles ahead of anything Nintendo has put out since. If only for the games I play like 3D Zelda, Mario, Sonic, Smash Bros. etc.

I know it's old news by now but considering people have been playing Super Smash Bros. with Gamecube controllers since 2001, Nintendo is starting production on Gamecube controllers again and releasing an adapter for the Wii U that will make them compatible with certain games.
