na there is alot of servers already available, the most important part is make sure that the person you are playing with has the same setup so that both emulators can run insync.
it says it is best played in windowed mode at 800x600 but im sure you can do a try an error and try and bump it up a bit larger but i guess both parties would have to, to keep the emulation synced.
you can also do just p2p with out the need of a server, this has worked well for me and a friend in the past but have yet to try it with Goldeneye
