Listen to Christopher's response to Tony at 40:00 It is sad that this is true, I feel ashamed to live in Northern Ireland sometimes.

I think Tony is correct also; you can't ignore the political issues.

Could you expanded on your reply a little more? I thought most of what Tony said was garbage. Paraphrasing but pretty much Tony "Yes religious leaders have made mistakes and bad things happen in the name of religion but SOME good things are done in the name of religion..."
Some good? Wow congratulations here is a medal for the rare occasions when you do some good... Here is what it comes down to with Tony's argument and Christopher touched on it. There is no good thing a religious person can do that a non religious person cant do. In fact when religious people do good things for religious reasons i.e. to keep the man with the white beard in the sky happy (or even more terrifying to keep the voice in their head happy) that is less noble than someone without religion does something good just for goodness sake and not in the hope of an afterlife.
On a final note. What happens to the religious person when they stop believing in the man in the sky or the fairy in their shoe? Do they still do good?

Some thoughts after watching a few minutes of this:
Generally speaking I think it's difficult to separate religious beliefs from the people preaching them. The argument can be made that a conflict or poor state of affairs in any given place is most likely the result of bad people doing bad things, regardless of religion possibly having a stranglehold in said place.
However, as Hitchens pointed out, religion can most certainly be used as a tool (like it was in Rwanda) to make things even worse and help preach the word of bigots, idiots, etc. I also think Blair's repeated reference to a "true message of religion" was pretty silly as no such objective message exists. There have been so many different religious denominations/groups throughout history precisely because of our inability to agree upon some kind of central message.
Anyway, interesting vid. I'll be sure to watch the rest later.

Yeah, its like Hitchen's was saying about Northern Ireland, "people will murder each others children because of the type of christian your are" People arent even happy if you believe in the same god as them (at least that is what they use as an excuse)

Religion in general is a crock. There has to be a baseline standard of intelligence for things. Admittance of knowing nothing is not necessarily the presence of enlightenment. It's just an admittance of humanity.
I know adults who deal with there child coming home from school crying because Jimmy told Timmy that Santa Clause isn't real. The parents reply to everything with "next time, ask Jimmy if God is real and when Jimmy undoubtedly says yes grill him on whats the difference between Santa and God." Now maybe there was a Santa at some point but hes gone and the idea we have of him today does not exist, he is not real. Now here is the point to this...
I AM ignorant on a great many things but I know what I have seen with my own two eyes. I have seen warmth, love, compassion, respect, etc. from faithless and God fearing people alike. I have seen hate, violence, fear, and jealously from both partys as well, but only one does it in the name of religion, the other has no form of justification. That is what religion can/does ultimately become, a justification for the alienation of your fellow man.
