As of right now, "A Bird Story" has been officially announced! I'm am so excited!
Wait, hang on! What's "A Bird Story?"
Glad you asked, ignorant and non-gender-defined internet user! "A Bird Story" is the second installment in the "To The Moon" franchise (although one game so far is hardly enough to constitute a "franchise"), but it's not episode 2 ("To The Moon" is episode 1). It's sort of a prequel to episode 2 that features the patient from episode 2 as the main character.
So...why do I care again?
Well...er....I don't rightly know. I mean...I know why I care (click here for sappy backstory), but I can't really sell the idea of playing this game to you unless you're willing to make the jump yourself.
Being number 2 (while simultaneously not being number 2) in the TtM franchise, I would expect ABS to follow the same game mechanics. Mostly a point-click style, RPG-esque adventure where "gameplay" plays second fiddle to "rip your heart out, replace it with a puppy, and die smiling" story telling. If you didn't like TtM, you probably won't like ABS.
Ok...what you're trying to say is?
The sequel (which is a prequel) to one of my all time favorite games has been officially announced, and while no release date has been given, the developer (there's only one!) says the URL for the game goes live tomorrow. Being that Freebird games is largely run by one man and that his last game was published via his website, this most likely means the game comes out tomorrow! (remember, optimistic speculation)
Edit: Kan Gao (the developer) released this image as a joke of sorts. It in no way represents any of the game and is meant to be entirely a parody.
Edit 2: It's currently 5 am right now and the URL page is live!
Unfortunately, the release date is slated "Mid-Year of 2013." So, I'm thinking somewhere around June or so. I'm a little disappointed that we'll have to wait another 3 months for a smaller game (Kan says it's about 30 mins long), BUT hopefully this means that Episode 2 will be released at the same time or relatively close to "A Bird Story."
