Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has been funded and it is at the stage where David Hayter will be a voice actor! Why is it that a lot the the games that people want have to go through kickstarter!

Get the fund outta here! You must be funding kidding me! A castalvania with a female protagonist? Thats more interesting than David Hayter. Just like seeing more female protagonists I mean.

You could play as female in Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin on the NDS, it was pretty fun.

I don't care if the protag of any game is male or female... I care more if they are INTERESTING and unfortunately I'm sure we're all aware that a lot of female characters in games are just not written well (With exceptions of course)... I am absolutely all for a female protag as long as it's not painfully obvious the writer hasn't the faintest notion on how to write a female character

It's my firm belief that Kickstarter is leading us into a new golden era of gaming. The main dev was behind the best Castlevania games including SotN. This'll be the 2nd game that I've ever backed/preordered after Yooka-Laylee. I reckon I'll pay $60 for the bonus content. That's the same cost as Mario Party 37 and Call of Duty 17 after all. There's no way I'm missing out on a hidden difficult boss. Hype.

Orchestrated music stretch goal reached, yaaaaay! This ain't "off topic". Regarding gender of protagonist: Utterly irrelevant. I just hope they're interesting. Edit: Backed it for $60, wooooooooooot. Now to wait until 2017.

I never got into the stories of 2d side scrolling action games so they don't need to be interesting. Just fun.

Its really easy to over look a game like Castlevania SOTN Blade. The story serves a purpose, it doesn't get in the way too much. There is a real sense that you are exploring a castle. Its weird, after a while you almost forget you are playing in 2D.lol

The $5m stretch goal of procedurally-generated roguelike castles in Bloodstained has been shattered.
The final stretch goal is for $5.5m. The reward is a mode in which one player can control bosses. The goal will be easily met according to my calculations.

This is a good thing. We vote with our dollars and we will have my dream game. A shooter like Goldeneye/PerfectDark/Timesplitters on current gen consoles.

Blade on Yooka: I donated more money to them today then I have spent on video games in the last 6 months. Why? Because I believe in them, and the work they are doing. I backed Yooka for £10 since I wasn't very excited about the backer rewards. There was no way I was missing out on having my name in the credits along with tens of thousands. I went absolutely nuts backing RotN. I'm a big fan of IGAvania games. I also believe in putting my money where my mouth is. Hence why I haven't bought a AAA game in forever. Only ~275 secret maps will ever be made.

Thanks Silent. All the naysayers who won't donate say it's because it's not their type of game. The point I'm making is that Playtonic and by extension, other kickstarter devs are being forward with their audience, and asking them to back them based on promises made through stretch goals. This is the future.
Anymore, a game in development for two years usually has publishers and developers who keep the target audience in the dark for about 90% of the entire development of a game and then, asks them to pre-order when the consumer only has a fraction of an idea of what their actually buying. It's the reason why games can't change. If COD developers made a Halo clone out of there next game, people would freak and Activision would lose money. So they don't change. Everyone else would sooner make a COD clone than try something new because the financial risk is just too high. Video games just cost too much to make anymore, and people don't know what they want.
With these kickstarter games we can truly vote with our dollar and communicate what we want in the most profound way. If i'll put a measly $10 down just on the promise of a 3D platformer in the vein of Banjo, I'm communicating what I want with real money.
We have nearly a year and a half until Yooka Laylee comes out, and in that time it could become a horrible game, but it's already made 3 million dollars, and we have communicated that we want something fun and silly from the guys with a track record that says that they do it best. That's a year and a half for other developers to see this success and follow suit.
That is a huge success for the industry in general.
This industry is around 40 years old. Much like this film industry, they started out with simple films such as westerns. Stuff based in reality that didn't require expensive sets, effects, or props. Same goes for those 8-bit games of yesterday. Today, our cinematic experience is over run with grand epics spanning multiple films, taking place on distant worlds, made possible with technology beyond what the pioneers of film in the late 19th century could even fathom. Video games will evolve on a similar path and to me, these kickstarters represent a bridge between developers and players that communicates that just because we CAN make Avengers and it can make billions of dollars, doesn't mean there is no room left for an ole fashion western. Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto are wonderful games. They sell millions. But there is always room for a 2D side scroller, 3D platformer, and the like.
If everyone understood this concept, they would consider having patience, not buying the same game every year, and making sound decisions with their dollar. Maybe someday we will come to a point that nobody is duped into paying full price for a game that fails to live up to the hype because proper communication and funding between the developers and their target audience is achieved.
