JMMREVIEW www.chess.com/echess/game?id=126220656Since white's pawn structure will be messed up, black's loss of the bishop pair and 2 moves makes this an even trade for once! Playing c6 denies black's knight its natural development square and breaks the principle of trying to get pieces out as quickly as possible. (+0.5p) The general rule that you should usually capture with the pawn furthest to the outside so that you can control more of the center holds especially true here, since an 'e' pawn advance could potentially undouble black's 'f' pawns in the future. (+0.6p) There were 29 half moves without a single mistake! I knew we played well. White should have played Bf5 instead. The threat of a bishop trade and queen invasion would work out for him. (-0.8p) Black's greedy pawn gobbling pins his own knight. This won't end well. (+2p) 18.. Qxc3 loses a rook after 19. Qh7 and later knight threats. (+5p) But this tactic is missed by white, instead trading down into a theoretically drawn endgame! (-8p) Black castles into danger with both rooks soon to be on that side. (+1.2p) Be6 would have made way more sense, protecting white's kingside 6rank pawns as well as the d5 pawn. (+1.6p) With white now having a 3.4 pawn advantage, it would be impossible for black to avoid a loss against a computer. However, I still couldn't find a way to win until I was able to trade a knight for a rook.

It makes it feel like a glorious battle although for all i know could have been. And i have never seen a such in-depth analysis of a chess game.

It makes it feel like a glorious battle although for all i know could have been. And i have never seen a such in-depth analysis of a chess game. It was well-played by both of us. I enjoy looking over my games with computer assistance so that I can learn from them and get better as a result. We've improved so much in the 140+ games we've played in the last year or two.

JMMREVIEW Since I play the same opening as white every time (--which is statistically the most winning opening--), you might want to look into the strongest ways to counter it: www.365chess.com/opening.php?m=6&n=21&ms=d4.Nf6.c4.e6.Nf3&ns=7.14.11.33.21Any of the green arrows would lead to an almost equal game for black on move 4. I'd be off-book at this point and all on my own. Or if you want to be aggressive (like you know you are ) you can play the Benko Gambit. I've never played against it but it's solid (can't be beaten with research like most other aggro defenses). And as white you can either continue to play 1. e4 and figure out a way to play against the 1.. c5 Sicilian Defense: www.365chess.com/opening.php?m=3&n=3&ms=e4.c5&ns=3.3Or simply copy my 1. d4 strategy with the same information from the first link. Personally as black I feel really comfortable after 1. e4 and horrified after 1. d4.
