Hey guys, long time no chat.
I just wanted to make a post letting you guys know about the competitive Catherine scene. I'm not sure if you guys recall, but a long time ago I made a post about how Catherine is one of my favorite games of all time. You can check out a link here for the wikipedia page if you aren't sure with what the game is, but it's more or less a puzzle game with a unique climbing game mechanic. What makes this game so cool though is that it turns out having two people trying to climb a tower makes things a lot more...complicated.
When another player gets added into the mix, the game suddenly takes on the form of something more akin to a fighter. Footsies, combos, endlag, spacing, etc, all become part of the game. It's really something that's a work of art, honestly. The game has been hosted at Evo the past two years actually, as part of a side tournament. The game features only local multiplayer unfortunately, but we're trying to get local scenes started up all over the place. Who is we? Well, come by the competitive Catherine Discord to see who's all in there, but we have around 50 players that vary from speedrunners to people who just enjoy Catherine. If you're familiar with the Smash community, the player Toph came in second at Evo.
I have also been playing around with doing Catherine analysis videos, hopefully I get to add more, but here's what I have so far. Below is a bunch of links that might be of interest to you. If you have any questions, be sure to post . The community is currently exploring frame data and stuff, and there is actually a lot of depth to the game yet undiscovered.
