I haven't seen any discussion about this over here, I know most of you are Team Xbox (you're all noobs) but I'm wondering what do you think of the Playstation Pro news and does it affect your thoughts on Scorpio in any way?
For me personally I'm glad the difference is quite small because it means I don't need to upgrade. What intrigues me the most though is that it's not true 4k, it's upressed, the same way X1 will upress to 1080, makes me wonder if the Scorpio's claimed "true 4k" is actually true or just marketing language.

Looks stupid (Looks like a triple whopper from BK with it's middle layer) No 4k Blu Ray player Not native 4k
Not worth the price of the upgrade... Even if you don't have a PS4 and were wanting one, I'd suggest just picking up a regular at discounted price
Microsoft should be able to smell blood on this tbh

It's not true 4K. PC's are just starting to get into that area, ain't no freaking way a console does it first.

Now more information is out, the only thing that has me genuinely interested is the fact that the PS4 Pro can stream in better quality and record gameplay in better quality. Still not enough for me to even consider upgrading.

Honestly who can afford to upgrade current gen anyway, you would need to have money to burn. It's hard enough just paying the upfront price for the console in the first place. The only way I would buy a Scorpio is if my Xbox One broke.

The only way I would buy a Scorpio is if my Xbox One broke. Even at that I'd feel much better off buying another XBone over the Pro, and if you've got a 4k tv, I'd stretch to an XBone S over the Pro too... The Scorpio would need to absolutely blow everything out of the water that we've seen so far, and even at that I'd probably still hold off and see what Microsoft's next move it before making a final decision

I keep seeing people say it's only $100! It's not expensive and it's like, "I bought the console for $400 and you want me to spend $400 on a small upgrade?" I really don't like how people are lapping this up. the PS5 and if Microsoft do another Xbox, are going to be so expensive if they realise they can charge more.

"Only $100" is the mantra of people that have more money than sense, or people that don't pay bills

The new Apple Airpods are $50 per pod if you lose one or need to replace one. That's a $100 for what is essentially wireless earbuds....

I bought an Xbox One S (2TB) and while I don't have a 4K/HDR compatible tv, I feel somewhat future proofed for the next three years or so. I had to repair and sell my old fatbox for it and it ended up being around a $90 upgrade when all was said and done. The thing doesn't randomly freeze or buzz when blurays are paying so that's nice. Repair should have cost me $100 but Microsoft fixed it for free so it's all good.
On Sony: The PS4 Pro announcement was underwhelming. I know the Xbox One S is for people that gotta have a 4k bluray player, but who's the Ps4Slim for? People that want a smaller PS4 I guess, because that's all it is. With the PS4Pro, they pretty much talked about the two features I had been reading about for the Xbox One S for the last two months. THEN we find out SONY arnt including a 4K BluRay Player in the thing??? WHY! I know it's for cost but dang! How does the Xbone Slim have something over a PS4.5??? They own the patent to it. Then Bethesda came out the other day and said Sony had halted all progress in bringing mods for Fallout/Skyrim to PS4. I don't understand their priorities. I came into this generation with thte impression that Sony is really going to focus on making PlayStation 4 a game-focused machine. Now they are taking it too far. Will Xbox be back on top of total sales this time next year? Who knows.
Quick note: HDR gaming sounds like Segas "blast processing" to me. I know how HDR works in photography, but in developing a game, the dynamic range is controllable from there because it's just code. The way there are color-blind filters in COD games, I think you could get a similar HRD effect on current consoles and tvs with a simple filter. I may be missing something huge here, but how I understand it, HDR in games sounds like the makings of a manipulative buzzword. HRD in film is different though.
Silver Lining: I absolutely see the silver lining here. I was confident in buying the Xbone S because if your like me, $400 is the max I EVER want to pay for a brand new console. Microsoft could take a loss on every Scorpio, but if not, I could see Scorpio hovering around $600 with four bundles Xbone games in the box for about two years. Point being I don't think anything worth more than $400 is going to drop to $400 for quite some time, and I know that's still alot of money for yet another game console, but that's something to consider. These toys will likely be out of your price range for awhile, and not significant enough to feel like your missing out.
Personal thoughts: With this new hardware on the horizon, I have never been less excited for it. Especially as an Xbone S owner. I'm gonna keep my 48' LCD until it burns out and if PS4Pro and Scorpio are everything and exactly what they are being marketed as, you may never need a 4Ktv in this generation.
I find it very amusing that alot of people are more attracted at paying half the price for a new Xbone than a PS4Pro or even Scorpio. Reminds me of how a few years back the X360 loyalists (like me) said they would rather buy another X360 or even a PS3 instead of the new hardware because of the always online and lack of backwards compatibility.

On a personal note, I am playing games at 240p and having a blast f**k 4k. Exactly. It seems like if any major new or remastered game isnt running at full 1080p/60fps (soon 4K/60fps/HDR) that it makes headlines on major sites. The biggest killer of the PS4 Pro and Xbox Scorpio for me is the approach on how they promise the SAME games you can get on older hardware will look better and run better on newer hardware. It's like paying the $59.99 for GTAV and buying it all over again a year later because of a few updates and features that don't really enhance the gameplay to a degree that would be worth buying it at full price all over again. Unless you absolutely love the game I guess. So unless I buy a $1000 4KTV with HDR support, what is the point in spending between $400-$600 for a new console if all it does is make "last gen" games look better on certain tvs? I wonder how long before they start locking off exclusive titles to move systems.

HDR actually makes a big difference in games, it's mainly on the TV side though. Games can make the sunset look really pretty but you will see lines in the sky separating the colours, HDR will make the colours blend together for a much better image. Like you said though, I'm not sure how HDR makes as big a difference as what Sony made it out to be. It really should be on the developer side on what a sunset should look like and the HDR will just make it look nicer but Sony made it look like you're not seeing the whole picture or something. I don't know.
