I have been working in radio for 4 years. I produced a show every saturday morning since I started and 2 months ago my boss came to me and said we were taking the show off the air. This was a show where people would call in and get great deals on items from local businesses. It would be like "We have $10 worth of Subway Sandwiches for $5 first 12 callers get in on this deal." and that's how it would go. The people loved this, and now it's gone.
I'm writing this because I'm the kind of guy that emails, twitter bombs, and facebooks the hell out of a game development studio or the makers of some movie franchise I'm passionate about.
I guess what goes around comes around. Now that the show I produced for 4 years is off the air I have legions of people (like maybe 10 people) that email, call, or facebook on a daily basis asking why we did it and insulting everything we are doing to shift to a web based offer that allows for the same effect with out radio.
I can't tell them that it was for money, I can't say anything in the companies name. Coincidently we have lost allot of money by doing this but that's for the boss to figure out.
I read these emails and facebook posts and I want so bad to give them what they want. Like if I give them what they want then I;; get what I want from the things I'm passonate about.
Change is never easy but I know first hand that this particular change is for the worse. It pains me to see myself as the guy that wants to say sorry but can't. I imagine this is what some developers feel like when they are making huge changes to an established franchise and the the fans lash out at them for changing things for the worse.
My point is that it's easy to spam these people the message that what they are doing sucks now because they changed something that was well enough left alone. I understand now that alot of the people working in those development studios have no say in what the boss man thinks should happen in the future. Yet, they read the reviews, message boards and are told that their work is garbage. I guess it's important to remember that it's not always the developers fault for ruining a good game. These guys are just doing their jobs.
