Mass Effect
Plot:
Well lads this is the first forum i have ever done so sorry if its not up to standards compared to other forums . Anyway lets go with the game which made me a fan of the RPG genre. The Mass Effect video game series follows the adventures of Commander Shepard and the alliance he controls. You get to travel the Galaxy and build up a crew to defeat The Geth and a host of alien creatures. Along the way you get to meet a wide range of characters and planets. You play as Shepard the Commander of The Normandy. At the beginning of the game you get to create the character and his back story the way you see fit. So he can be a man or a woman, be black or white ect. you can also pick what class your character is they can be a master of biotecs (not sure of spelling) or great at a sniper ect. Anyway that's all you need to know I highly recommend it.
Opinion:
In my opinion what sets the Mass Effect RPG series over others is the dialogue cut scenes. Now I will warn you this series is very heavy on dialogue if your someone who skips cut scenes in video games I would skip this series. However, the dialogue in the game is awesome especially the dial system which lets you pick what your character says in dialogue sequences. These sequences at first may not be riveting but later on become more serious and intense. There is lots of replay value in this game the story alone on easiest setting will take about 20 hours but you can easily but 50 hours into it.
There are only a few things in the original game which annoyed they are: 1) The combat and cover system feels clunky and can be dodgy especially the aiming reticle on a few occasions freezes in the zoomed position this will most likely happen if you have played the game for a long period and when about 20 aliens attack you at once. 2) A lot of the planets you see during side quests just look the same with a different paint job. 3) Some of the side quests can be very repetitive and you get this really weak tank which can be awkward to control. 4) Finally the beginning of the game feels very slow.
However, if you can overlook these problems you will be in for a really good time especially when you can get the game for a €10 in Gamestop. Final verdict would be 8/10 brilliant game. Check it out just take a few days off work .
Mass Effect 2
Plot:
Mass Effect 2 takes place 2 years (I think, correct me if im wrong) after the first game you still play as Commander Shepard except this time you are working for Cerburus a dodgey biotecs corporation with a bad history and reputation. You now have a new crew, new weapons and ship to travel the universe. The plot is similar to the original except this time you must defeat The Collectors who are rapidly kidnapping human colonies through out the universe. A long the way you get to meet new character as well as old ones from the original.
Opinion:
Mass Effect 2 is one of the best video game sequels I have ever played. It improves everything the original suffered from. Actions from the previous game have an effect on your reputation in the sequel and have an influence on the story so for that reason alone id recommend you to play through the original before playing this one.
There are a few things that bothered me a little through my experience of playing Mass Effect 2 . 1) Although the combat and cover mechanics have been improved they are still not perfect when compared to other cover systems in other third person games. 2) Exploration is BORING !!!!!! All you do is go to a planet ad scan it by shooting probes at it you can mostly then go and investigate but sometimes you have to find a precise signal before exploring. Call me old fashioned but id rather go down to the planet and investigate it that way instead of using this 3d scanner which can take forever to find something. 3) Its confusing how you use skill points and truthfully I don't fully understand it (if you know please tell me)
Other than that i enjoyed it its brilliant and has set the standards for RPG games and sequels. My final verdict is a 9/10.
If you have read all of my forum i thank you but here are a few things that should be noted:
I have not played the third game yet or any D.L.C for the first 2 games so I cannot comment on them.
When I first played the original I wasn't a huge fan. However, i saw a review of Mass Effect 2 and thought to myself "that looks awesome maybe I should try the original again." So i did exactly that. I played through it thoroughly so much that i beat the game and decided to play through it again because i loved it so much. So if your trying out the original i would highly recommend playing through thoroughly before giving up.
I hope my review was informative and have convinced people to try these games out.
If your a fan of Sci-Fi or RPG this game series is for you.
Although the game series is Sci-Fi its not geeky so i highly recommend it. (not trying to offend anyone cause im a bit of a geek myself ) and thank you for reading my forum .
Here are links to some gameplay of these games.
Mass Effect:

Mass Effect 2:
Its the beginning mission of the second game so there shouldn't be spoilers, just very long but use can skip some parts of it.
