I've been messing around with MM over the past couple days and I finally got a decent HD texture pack installed. The menus and UI certainly look quite a bit better, but I'm not so sure about the textures themselves. Things look more cartoony (think Wind Waker), Link is apparently an anime character now, and the Moon isn't quite as sinister considering it doesn't have any teeth.
Any thoughts? Would you be interested in seeing more of this or even a full playthrough?

It definitely looks objectively better, but it seems to me like all of the menace and gloom is gone... >_<

Oh cool, maybe you could do a quick tutorial on how you got it to run?
I might just wait until the MM remake its only a matter of time before Nintendo get around to doing it...

It's pretty refreshing to play MM with a different aesthetic, but I definitely prefer the look of the original textures. As for a tutorial, maybe. Once I figured everything out it was pretty simple. I may write out a step-by-step in a bit. Still trying to decide whether or not I should record a full playthrough...

Oh cool, maybe you could do a quick tutorial on how you got it to run? I might just wait until the MM remake its only a matter of time before Nintendo get around to doing it... If you want a MM remake on console it could be a very long time, a decade even. It's inevitable that we will see a remake of MM on 3DS sometime in the next 3 years or so but after seeing this video I wonder if thats even a good idea. Games so dependent on atmosphere like this one almost never retain the mood the original sets when the visuals are changed no matter how little they do. This has me questioning if WW will be better or worse off in it's Pii U remake. While the Gamecube version looks like a cartoon the Pii U footage I seen looks almost like claymation or the weird art style seen in that Penguins of Madagascar show which I really don't care for. Maybe I'm just in one of those "change is bad" moods today. It's feeling that way. It's not that I don't like the new style as much as I am afraid it will change or ruin the atmosphere present in the Gamecube version.

@blade runner I never even thought about that with WW I must watch the video again.
@mmcc I would watch a play through but only do it if you think you will enjoy it!

Yeah. The character models in the Wind Waker Remake footage look fine but I'm not clear on what they are doing with the game world. In some places the trees look ripped out of Skyward Sword or something, the buildings look like something out of a computer animated kids show. Where solid green flat surface is grass because it clearly cant be anything else... It just looks off, the natural, bright, sunlight on this animated world blends the line between pure animation and some kind of construction paper art or claymation. Like the water and the grass would look better if they didn't have this sunlight baking away all the detail. Blinding. The lighting is promoting a lack of detail that is expected and normally present in Next gen games. I don't know. What do you think?

Its not the lack of detail that worry's me (cel shading removes all detail that is its purpose), its that they are trying to make WW something that it is not (or was not) realistic!!!! You are right about that sun tho it makes me feel uncomfortable to look at! way too bright and not easy on the eye which is what cel shading should be! Its strange how they are only showing stills... would need to see it moving but will defo keep an eye on this thanks for flagging it!

Yeah. Since it's coming out this year we should see it in action at E3, maybe. Sometimes my eyes hurt when playing games that have stretches of bright surface like that for too long. This classic could be hard to play if they arnt careful.

Speaking of nextbox, I hear there have been rumors that it's actually not gonna be always on after all

Backwards compatibility is actually a bigger deal breaker because I still have loads of 360 games to play. I don't feel ready for a new console yet. But if I could play said games on the next box I might get one

It will also be called Infinity and cost $300 with a 1 year, $15 a month subscription fee. You can avoid that fee if you pay an extra $100 up front but poor stupid assholes (kids and the children raised by them) will buy the cheaper model and effectivly throw $80 into microsofts big furnace. So even if all bad rumors are false and Next Xbox is f'ing great it will be 2 years before my wallet allows me to own one.
