The page in Hyrule Historia shows nice little details and stuff, such as the name of each era, such as the Era of Chaos after Skyward Sword when the Sacred Realm is sealed, followed by the Era of Prosperity and the establishment of the Hyrule Kingdom

I posted a better scan of the timeline, and yes JMM it looks that way. It's a bit of a mess I think. Anyway I guess it helps people that want to get into Zelda and don't know what to play first or next.
I know going from my first Zelda game, Ocarina of Time then straight to Majoras Mask then playing Oracle of Seasons that summer had me confused as hell, now had I played ALTTP and then Oracle I would have been better off.

I still don't understand the point of a Zelda timeline. The games have always had their own self-contained stories. It also doesn't make any sense that Link could have been defeated in OOT.
It all seems like an arbitrary attempt on Nintendo's part to establish a persistent universe for a series that doesn't need it.

Then again, don't give us a backstory in every other game that suggests great adventures have happend before. Thats just asking for a prequal to either be made or suggestion that it indeed exists. Ancient sages telling you that you arnt the first Green Tunic wearing hero they have seen is just begging for a timeline like this to be made sooner or later.
At least Mario is dumb enough to act like Bowser has never kidnapped the princess though we have done this 15 times over the course of 25+ years.

The first temple in the first Zelda is a dead tree, which is suspected to be the withered Deku Tree from OoT

I wonder if we'll get a game explaining where OoT Adult Link went, or maybe one where you play as Ganondorf and end up flooding the kingdom lol

I think Vaas pretty accurately describes Nintendo and the state of the Zelda franchise:
I don't mean to turn this into a Nintendo rant thread, but at this point they really are insane. They're content with remaking the same damn franchises over and over again and they're repeating Sega's mistakes with the Wii U. They're doomed if they don't break this cycle.

I would buy a WiiU the second that game was announced.

Wait, you mean you're NOT excited for the next Zelda, Mario, and some Mario Kart or Party game? Yeah, me neither. Ninty needs some new games. And not just the same four over and over again.

Don't agree with you quite yet on the Zelda franchise but it's getting there.
You know how you can tell how old someone is by not asking age? Ask what Mario franchise game they like the best.
I figure next time I go for a drink instead of asking to see my ID they should say "What is your favorite Mario Kart game? If you say Super Mario Kart or Mario 64, no ID required. They are so damn similar that your favorite isnt your favorite because it's actually BETTER than the others but rather it's just your first impression, or just nestolgia talking.
Everyone has that golden age where they are allowed to obsess over things more than they probably should. I figure it's between age 10 and 14 where you are still too young to have let social distractions take away from your free-time hobbys and too old to not have decided on more primary intrests like perticular tv shows or video games.
I know when I was 12 my life revolved around DBZ, PKMN, and Zelda. Cars, girls, jobs, etc. didnt really exist yet.
