*The above trailer does not do the movie justice it is not a rom com*
Thanks for the heads up about this blade runner.
The movie takes place in Paris present day, the main character is in love with the city because of the various art movements which took place around the 1920s. He has deep nostalgic feelings for the 20s (not his own past). Without giving the plot away we soon find out that nostalgia is nothing more than not being able to cope with the present.
This is a Woody Allen movie so there are a few classic comedy scenes but not that much, just enough to keep the story going
Video game nostalgia
Can this movie compare to the felling of nostalgia I get for video games?
In a word no.
When I left home to go to university very early on I became obsessed with spending time on ebay buying N64 games.
Years earlier I had sold nearly all of my games and I was on a mission to buy them all back. (mission accomplished)
What I was really doing (or trying to do) was buying back my childhood.
I soon learnt that a pattern was emerging in my live, at uni I would look back at the Zelda GE, PD era and think I was much happier back then. Now I look back at uni and think I was much happier then, either my life is getting worse and worse or it was nostalgia playing tricks on me but....
Conclusion
I know that we should live for the moment and forget about the past, I have excepted that, the young JMM is dead but that still doesnt change the fact that 90% of the games that are made now are garbage!!!
Not that I am saying all old games were good but most of the "new" games I play now are just remakes of old games.
Put it like this if in 2013 I got my hands on
Half Life 3
Resident Evil 7 (survival horror with slow moving zombies)
Timesplitters 4
New Metal Gear (stealth game)(which i think is coming)
Zelda as good if not better than OOT
a james bond game that didnt suck!
If I got all that then I wouldnt be living in the f****** past!
