I never got to play this on the Dreamcast but when I got it for the Gamecube, a friend and I were addicted to it for most of the summer in 2002. It came out on XBLA last summer and is a big improvement over SA1 in my opinion. It also had a great soundtrack. Check it out if your a long time Sonic fan or are wanting an old school 3D Platformer.

Oh and when they announced it for XBLA (it was long overdue) the crowd reaction was priceless.
Yes, that is the sound of 500 dudes, all double high fiving each other at the same time. AMAZING!!!

Man, I loved this game... I actually picked it and SA1 up on Steam a while back, along with Sonic Generations, and it makes me beg the question... How the hell do you have terrible controls in a later Sonic game when SA1 and 2 had it pretty much right?

Hate to be mister negativity, but this game hasn't aged well imo. The controls are overly sensitive, the camera control is abysmal, and the levels are pretty linear for a Sonic game.

I never thought sonic ever made a good transition to 3D. The only games the did were Mario 64 and Zelda OOT

I probably should have written a review for SA2 on XBLA but I just never got around to it. Today I stumbled upon this video which pretty much sums up my impressions.
Without thinking too much about it, I can say that no game comes to mind as quickly as SA2 when I think of nostalgia and the dirty tricks it plays on us. In this video he hits the nail on the head when he says we highlighted the good parts for Chao raising and forgot the bad. Of course picking it up today will remind you of all the bad when you play through it again. I wouldn't recommend it accept to the hardcore fans that poured dozens of hours in the original and want to relive the good and bad of it. Just be warned. There is some bad.
