FINALLY!!!They said it would be out before fall, then in time for Halloween and finally, we have release date! On November 29th the Xbox 360 and PC will experience the first bit of DLC for State of Decay. Breakdown. They haven't been clear if these are two separate features as the 29th will also be the release date for Title Update #4 but the DLC will set you back $6.99 and consists of a new difficulty level and a bundle of new weapons, characters, and achievements. I wouldn't mind trying out the new difficulty but I would much rather just experiment with new characters, and weapons in the sandbox. Either way, I'm excited. How about you?

Just got the base game and I'm having a hard time getting into it. Seems a bit micromanagey. Any tips to make the experience better?

Well you don't have to do every little babysitting job. If frank is upset or causing problems back home then you don't have to go talk to him. You should eventually but it's best to set small goals for yourself and try to clear out the map/missions gradually.
I love this game because it's the atmospheric Zombie game I have been waiting for, for what feels like forever. It's faults are mostly technical with the constant babysitting of the other survivors being my biggest gripe. Something you can ignore for the most part as your most leveled characters take care of themselves pretty well. It's really one of those games that give you as much as you put into it. It sucks you in once you get to the 2nd town.
The whole game is basically, rescuing survivors, looting abandoned buildings, and building your defenses and livelihood through base upgrades. It's survival. Things do get a bit easier and better when you have leveled up a few characters and upgraded a base enough to allow car repairs etc. but the climb to attaining that comfort is really the best experience the game has to offer.

If the update was free, I'd get it. I'm finicky when it comes to pay DLC.

I don't blame you I almost never pay full price for DLC. Even if that means waiting 9 months after its release to get it. Usually I'm still having fun with the base game or distracted by another so it works out. It's just, at $7, I think the price is fair for how much I enjoyed this game initially.

I just got all the achievements on the original SoD yesterday so I will probably get the DLC. I see where foof is coming from tho $7 for a new game type? It is pretty steep. The reason I will buy it is because I dont mind £7 of my money going to the makers of SoD because I am voting with my money in the hope they make more zombie games.

Exactly. I'm disappointing I can't ask for the SoD soundtrack and a hoodie for xmas. They sold out a few months ago. They can have my money.

Undead Labs had this to say at launch of the Breakdown DLC:
We’re out on both Steam and XBLA all over the world. We hope you enjoy playing it as much as we enjoyed designing and building it. We kept your thoughts and feedback in mind at all times, as you’ll see in every detail from making Shark Hoodie Guy into a playable Hero, to the fact that some of you thought cars made the game too easy (there’s a level JUST FOR YOU). There are the usual community easter eggs (hint: Shark Hoodie Guy can appear with one of several randomized names, and we brought the actress who voiced Lily back to the studio for…a few new lines).
We’d like to thank everyone who took the time to write a review. (The still-being-updated list is here.) I’m not going to lie, this was a really challenging time to launch an expansion. All we have is the support of the community, and you know, that’s all we need! Thanks for your support and encouragement.
We’ve already started on DLC2, and I think you’re going to love it.
That last line was worth the whole read right?
