Well Sony is the lesser of two evils at the time of writing this. Frankly, on paper, PlayStation 4 is the better console. I'm a member of the angry mob against Miscrosoft.
Let's talk about the Long rumored Halo 2 Anniversary and Microsoft's absolute bullshit idea to use it to promote Halo 5.
The rumor goes Halo 2 Anniversary is going to release exclusively on Xbox One in the fall. All copies will include a Halo 5 beta key and a special edition will include Xbox One ports of Halo 3 and Halo 4. As an Xbox 360 owner, a man on a budget, and a Halo fan, I'm pissed. It's bull that Microsoft would rather abandon the console that houses over half of the franchise instead of follow through with completing the series. It's bull that they seemingly don't care about the 360 after telling us they would support it through 2015. I guess they are just letting new Call of Duty games carry that torch to the end.
Halo 4 had a pretty tight ending that can live and die on the Xbox 360. If Halo 2 Anniversary comes out on Xbox 360 it will complete the series instead of breaking it apart. Every single Halo game is available on the Xbox 360 as a version built for the Xbox 360, accept Halo 2. If the Xbox One was backwards compatible this wouldn't be an issue.
If the rumors are true and it comes with a port of Halo 3 and Halo 4 it will help with that cliffhanger ending for the Halo 2 first-timers but I guess that means we should expect to re-buy Halo CE and Reach in a few years right? See what I mean? For lots of people, Halo was done at Halo: Reach or Halo 3. They want to just keep their Xbox 360 and play the entire series on that console. I bought a 360 for Halo 3.
Releasing Halo 2 Anniversary on Xbox One seems like a convoluted ploy to milk more money out of the franchise. Sure, people will want to play Halo 2 Anniversary. If it's exclusive to Xbox One it will squeeze people into a position of leaving the rest of the series and the Xbox 360 for a $500 console and this one game, or stick with the original Xbox version wondering why Microsoft follows such an alienating business model.
Yeah. I'm talking about my own situation but I know several people who are in the same position and would sooner buy a PS4 than buy into the above scenario.
Sony knows it's audience and has taken note of both the 360 and Wiis success to make an affordable console that doesn't back you into a financial corner to play it.

for backwords compatibility I would say neither win because for the ps2 you could play your ps1 games on it on but you couldn't save so for most games this feature was useless and for the ps3 if you wanted to play any ps1 or ps2 games on it you had to hope it was on the playstation store and buy it again and for the xbox 360 you had a large list of original xbox games that could be played on the xbox 360 but the catch was that you had to have a hard drive which most 360 owners more than likely owned and you mentioned there being a rumor that halo 2 was going to be ported to the xbox one with the special edition having halo 3 and 4 well before you go and shoot up Microsoft headquarters let me remind you that it is just a rumor and has not been confirmed to be true oh and one last thing halo 2 is also on the list of games that are backwords compatible with the 360.

If the rumors turn out to be true, I will never buy an Xbox One. Right now I'm staying on the fence and giving both companies time to right the wrongs and win me over. Sony is winning at the moment. If Microsoft makes Halo 2 an Xbone exclusive they prove they have learned nothing since last year and haven't a clue as to what gamers want. I'm under the impression they think we are a bunch of xbox fanboys who will buy anything they put out and assume it's only a matter of time before we all lay down our $500.
It just feels like Microsoft is abandoning the 360 while Sony is making a solid effort to make past generations playable on PS4.

while I agree with you about halo 2 I still feel that its bullshit that when sony was being just as greedy as Microsoft with the ps3 no one cared but when Microsoft did the same thing they got destroyed by the community hell ad least microsoft sugar coated their bullshit sony just came right out and said if you cant afford the ps3 then you should get a second job.

I did think Sony was insane for asking what they were for the PS3. That's why I never bought one. Microsoft was only nice enough to say if you don't have internet for Xbox One, you should just stick with the Xbox 360. That's 2 guilty party's by my count. I thing the difference here is both next gen consoles have a lot of issues that have the hardcore pissed off. Microsoft just has the higher price and some glaring inconveniences like required installs, day one internet requirement, etc. PS3 had a high price tag and not too much else to hate over the Xbox 360.
The producers of the more expensive product will almost always say some pretty condescending bullshit in order to justify the price tag. Mercedes Benz has wipers on the headlights and those alone are worth $20,000. If you can't afford a Benz, good luck driving in rain.
The big deal here is the future of some of the most beloved modern franchises are in the hands of people that wholly expect you to keep your Xbox 360 and Xbox One side by side and/or take that initial $500+ plunge on faith that Xbone will be miles better than Xbox 360. Backwards compatibility is insurance so if the console you buy is crap, at least is plays your favorite old games. I have little faith that the next Halo, Forza, Gears, or Fable are going to revolutionize the industry and I'm not impressed with the new ips so far.
I sold my Xbox to get a 360 knowing I would be okay with that decision.
I don't like that my 360 is seemingly being phased out when I thought it was understood that Microsoft would support it through 2015. That's why I'm part of the angry mob. I have no place to go... I wonder what 2014 looks like for Nintendo.

I agree but in my opinion Nintendo will slowly kill themselves because their trying target an audience that isn't there anymore what I mean is that with the wii they got people who would normally never play games playing the wii but the problem is that those people buy it to play it with their kids or play wii fit like a couple times and then it either collects dust or goes into the closet and Nintendo still thinks that those people are going to come back and buy the next console when in reality they don't care anymore.

No argument there. I can't believe the lengths Nintendo goes to. They NEED to drop the price of the Wii U.
