Check out this video and listen to what this guy has to say. The mindset in the development of this game is very progressive thinking in my opinion. W hile I don't see this title being a revolution, this could be the spark that lights the much needed fire under the FPS genre. Download All Along the Watchtower (Trailer Mix) here.Latest Trailer BOOM BOOM Gameplay 19/2/14:

I already had this game pre ordered because I love the wolfenstein series to death but the chainsaw scene and the mention of a doom beta made giddy like a school girl.

Just read a preview and a few things really stood out. I'll quote them below:
"All of the guns (that we picked up) can be dual wielded, and most of them pack a satisfying punch. There’s also an unusual approach with ammo that divides your bullet supplies into two categories: light and heavy. The light ammo is what you use to feed your smaller weapons, like pistols and SMGs, while the heavy ammo gets plugged into larger guns, like assault rifles and shotguns."
Love this. Both duel wielding and ammo generalization are throwbacks to the by-gone era of FPS games. You may have noticed even in Perfect Dark that all AR ammo fit all ARs etc. This makes me happy if only because I won't have to drop my favorite gun mid-level because there is simply no ammo. This really helps the run and gun element.
"There’s treasure to be found, some of it is even locked away in secret rooms (you even get a completion percentage at the end of each chapter). Health pickups come in the form of first aid kits, of course, but you can also interact with food – even dog food – to use it as a healing item."
Love this level of interactivity. Hidden weapons, set level progression, health pickups are all throw backs that conjure up memories of older FPS games.
"You might not get destruction on par with the likes of a Battlefield: Bad Company game, but enemy fire shreds most points of cover convincingly. Wood splinters, stone chips away. The visual feedback is a welcome bonus, and one that really helps to enhance the immediacy of the action. It’s going to pop a little more on the new consoles than it will on PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, but something as simple as destructible cover – which all consoles can handle – represents an improvement to what we’ve seen from the series previously."
The idea of bullets behaving like bullets is oft overlooked. In popular games like COD/Halo bullet holes don't stay around very long if at all, glass seems to only break half the time, and all light bulbs are bullet proof. Early FPS games like Goldeneye had this basic level of destructibility and in corridors where your faced with these materials constantly it really kills the immersion when things don;t behave as they should.
On paper. This game looks like the serious throw back shooter that's long over due.

Really happy after reading your post, I havent been excited for a FPS in a long time but I am now. I am only worried about longevity now.

I dont know what is in store for longevity. When I think this old school I think about Perfect Dark and all the things it had outside of multiplayer to do. Maybe. I really hope there are things to unlock. If anything, again on paper, it looks like they have the gameplay nailed. Just look at this screen shot. I really don't know whats not to love by an old-school shooter fan. Dual Weilding, great graphics, and everything that should be blown apart by this firefight is. All in frame. This screen shot is a sort of work of art.

I just have to add that in an above post I said this looks like the serious throwback shooter we've been waiting for. I want to highlight "serious" there. I've said it before but I hate it that anything that plays like a pre-Halo FPS or looks like a late 20th century action movie is automatically looked upon as something not to be taken seriously. Just an homage to a by-gone ere for the old fogies that still remember 90's shooters.
This game is a new 90s-esque FPS game that steps up and says "We are taking the likes of most popular shooters head on. Just because we look and play like an over-the-top, hyper violent version of reality, doesn't mean we deserve to be overlooked as a niche." Sure newer games have a reason (soldiers fighting war) for there violence but the lone action hero isn't dead and shouldn't be treated in video games as such.

You can tell that the lone action hero has taken a beating in recent years if you look at the tragedy that was Duke Nukem Forever... He was barely Duke at all, half the time I felt like he was struggling... Hell, he even got knocked out at one point... Duke Nukem... KO'd... That wouldn't ever have even been considered in his glory days, he woulda just blasted through everything without a care in the world (Well, except for babes... He'd have a care for babes)

Just look at this screen shot. Screenshot....... SCREENSHOT!!!! I thought that image was concept art! One every easy way to add longevity would been to have easy, normal, hard and extreme mode. Also have some challenges e.g. complete this level only using pistols or without being seen. If it is fun to go back and play the levels over again it wont be a flavor of the month.

That's a screenshot. I know the background looks painted but it's in the screen shots section of the official site...
Unlockable cheats like all guns infinite ammo health etc. would hammer that old-school fell very well. Think about it. How many FPS games have cheats at all. Never mind a proper cheat list.

Yeah that was the last COD where I enjoyed the single-player as much as the multiplayer.

Wolfenstein is getting a Collectors Edition: If you look closely you might notice a crucial part of this package is missing. Yep, all this swag is missing the game itself. That for some reason, is on purpose too. Named the Panzerhund Edition, it's limited to just 5000 pieces, and the entire package costs $100. Would you buy this?
