Zero spoilers aheadThis film's been stuck in my head ever since I saw it last month. At it's core, Drive is an art house indie film about, well, a dude who drives (as a wheelman, more specifically), and there's a fairly standard love story thrown in there as you might imagine. However, this movie is hell of a lot more than the sum of its parts. The cinematography's great, the soundtrack is pitch-perfect, and all of the actors fit their roles perfectly (Ryan Gosling in particular kills it as the protagonist). It's an incredibly atmospheric film filled with over-the-top violence and eighties vibes, and I can't say I'd have it any other way. For anybody who's played Hotline Miami, think of it as the movie version of that game. I'll leave you with a fan-made montage since most of the official trailers suck: If anything you've read or seen in this post interests you, I urge you to go watch the film

This is kinda like GTA the Movie. Without the humor though. It's not the best movie I've ever seen but easily one of the most memorable. The few chase scenes there are, are some of the best I've ever seen. Great film.

The protagonist hates using guns. The chase scenes are fantastic. I love how the vast majority of these sequences (especially the one at the beginning of the film) are shot entirely in the cab of Driver's car. Makes it more immersive and engaging IMO.

The first one is my favorite though. He puts his watch on the steering wheel and does everything by the numbers like the pro he is. Calm and calculated. Great scene. Here it is.
No spoilers considering it's the very first scene of the movie.

Having watched it this last Saturday it kind of reminds me of Taxi Driver(1976). A quiet protagonist reacting to his world as it becomes increasingly violent and complicated. A part of me, like with Taxi Driver, would love to see a prequel be made because both Travis Bickle, and "Driver" were relatively vague in there character depth but had a past that made them how we saw them. Interesting. Of course prequels to the above mentioned movies would probably destroy the originals and leave us pretending they never existed.

Mmcc0203, I watched it again. That's ending always gets me. The way he proves himself. A real human being and a real hero.
