IDK. Never played it. It looked too much like RE4 in space.

I dunno man, with the right settings on Dead Space 3 it could make a good case for survival horror... Mainly when there's no ammo drops and you have to make your own ammo and health packs... Though I think what people think survival horror means is "scary" which tbh, Dead Space is... Moreso the first one, by the second one you sorta know what's coming but you'll still get scared at some points... Third one though if you play it on co-op, then like any game it becomes no longer scary

JMM. Would you kindly, post the official rules of a survival horror? I could do that homework myself but I haven't the time.

Though I think what people think survival horror means is "scary" which tbh, Dead Space is... This is the problem, the criteria for a Survival Horror game has now became a game that has tight corridors and some horror elements. A quote from Antisocialfatman (RIP) "Although survival is an element of Dead Space it is no more an element in Dead Space than it is in any other game where you can die... Gears of War is no less about survival than Dead Space but no one is calling it a survival horror."

I cannot say I really see the appeal of the resident evil franchise mainly because it doesn't look all that scary and the story is kind of crap but that's just my opinion.

You got a Wii? If not, get a Wii. Then get a copy of Resident Evil, and a gamecube controller. Still with me? Okay. Now. I challenge you to lock yourself in a dark room, alone, lights off, and beat the game. Maybe not in one sitting but do your best to progress and see how creeped out and uneasy you start to become and THAT is playing Resident Evil. Yeah the story ranges from believable and good to corny but the experience is like none you will have anywhere else. Resident Evil isn't just the game that popularized it's own genre but is one of the best of all time. REmake in particular is the best looking that still retains the classic SurvivalHorror experience. It's awesome.

the only games in the resident evil series I have played are resident evil 4 to 6 and I found all of them to be very boring shooters with stupid storylines and I also played the ps1 version of the first game and while playing it I felt like going through the worlds most bland and boring haunted house and the remake doesn't look much different and not trying to sound like a fanboy but after playing silent hill 2 on the toughest difficulty I am no longer scared by other games.

Lol a very bold statement! About the remake I just hope Blade Runner doesnt read it the only games in the resident evil series I have played are resident evil 4 to 6 and I found all of them to be very boring shooters with stupid storylines. This is because resident evil 4 to 6 are very boring shooters with stupid storylines. 4, 5, and 6 are action games not survival horror games. As for Silent Hill 2 the built up to fighting the enemies is great right up until the point where you fight them, then the game falls flat and is no longer scary.

silent hill 2 on harder difficulty isn't difficult because of the enemies its difficult because it doesn't place health drinks and medkits every where you go like on the easy difficulty and it doesn't take more than adleast three hits to be all the way in the red zone oh and the gameplay in silent hill 3 pretty much is just nothing but running for your life because enemies are tougher and large in numbers.

If your impression of old-school Resident Evil is this...
Than you need to catch up. They made the REmake after having plenty of practice developing Re2, Re3, and CV. The graphics engine, voice acting, and camera placement is all heaps better than what it was in the origonal. Like many firsts in a series you look back wondering if the developers had a clear idea of what they wanted the actual look and feel of the game to be.
^This^ was my first impression of Resident Evil. (period) and ignoring the cheese in the dialogue that creeps though sometimes, this establishes a serious, scary, survival horror game much better than the original.

The Remakes pre-rendered backgrounds and foregrounds change it from "the worlds most bland and boring haunted house"... To "a set piece to nightmares for everyone who has ever got to experience modern horror."
