I dunno about you, but I find the best part of this to be the way the water fills the airhole left by the bullet... Looks awesome

What is more amazing is that the weapon even fires. 1947 Russian engineering at it's best. Amazing.

Actually I was watching some similar mythbusters stuff and a lot of weapons will actually fire underwater, as long as there's no air inside the chamber you should be good to go

The thing about the AK-47 is that it can survive just about everything you can throw at it, but it's incredibly inaccurate. It's no wonder that in the Soviet-Afghan war the mujaheddin won using old British Lee Enfield rifles (one of the most accurate rifles in the world) they bought from Pakistan, who inherited the rifles from the Empire when it pulled out of the region. Insanely accurate rifles and heavy weapons on loan from the CIA, I'm legitimately surprised that the Soviets lasted 10 years in that war.

The problem is that the Lee Enfield is a magazine loaded semi-auto and while it's great at mid-long range the AK-47 could fire 30 bullets in the time an Enfield can fire off 10 and while those 10 might all hit their mark, it's unlikely the 30 from the AK all missed. The AK can handle so much abuse because when it fires it's entire platform rickets which kills accuracy but also shakes dirt loose. If you dig up an AK after it being buried for a year, provided the first bullet fires and leaves the chamber, the weapon will be ready to go without stripping and cleaning. Absolutely incredible for 1947 engineering.
Never the less. Guns arnt toys, and while I enjoy watching these demonstrations, I could never really endorse a tool for murder, no matter how well it's made.

Oh I meant the old bolt action SMLE mk. 3 from the world wars. The AK is very well made, no one can really deny that. It is a shame that so much effort has been put in over the years to make better killing machines though.
