All arguments aside. My decision to buy a console will ultimately be decided by two things as it always has. Games, and Friends.
If PS4 is technically the better console and has better exclusives then I'll buy a PS4. Unless, every single person I know is playing on an Xbox One. Then wisdom will have me buy an Xbox One.
As much as I will forever love the Gamecube in spite of it's shortcomings, I was alone on that console. All the while the rest of my friends were playing Splinter Cell, Vice City and Halo. The day I got an Xbox and Halo 2 on launch week I was one of the cool kids (materialistic I know) and it was a better time for me. Nobody had a Gamecube.

This little demo really makes me want to get an XONE. Huge nostalgia trip here. Love how you can switch between graphics and sound on the fly and the change really is instantaneous this time. If you launch a Halo 3 map, it's going to run on the Halo 3 engine, that is cool. Halo 2 will have campaign co-op over Xbox Live and forge/theater are coming to Halo 2 as well.
On the down side, playing these games from 1 to 4 is going to be jarring when you consider Halo2 is the nicest looking one now.

Some new details via Halo Waypoint have been revealed through a Q&A. Some highlights below... On co-op: It is " Supported across all four titles, both online and split-screen. In addition, we will be changing to a horizontal view for the split-screen multiplayer for Halo 2: Anniversary." Halo: CE Anniversary - 2 players max, split-screen or online Halo 2: Anniversary - 2 players max, split-screen or online Halo 3 - 4 players max online, 2 players max split-screen Halo 4 - 4 players max online, 2 players max split-screen On Halo 2 multiplayer and Forge: " Rest assured, we are working very hard to match the original experience as closely as possible on this engine, We’ll be able to share more about Forge specifics in the coming months. For now, we can confirm that Halo 3, Halo 4, and the six re-mastered Halo 2 Anniversary maps will be Forgeable." On control schemes: " We are currently finalizing control schemes, but we can say that we’ll have universal schemes that work across all games, as well as dedicated control schemes for each game. If you loved Halo 2’s default scheme but play Bumper Jumper in Halo 3, you’ll be able to use these for each corresponding title." On bringing the collection to X360: " We are dedicated to bringing a full and fun experience to Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Xbox One, providing you with dedicated servers, a unified interface, increased visual fidelity, and gameplay running at 60 fps. We do not have any plans to bring the game to Xbox 360 as the game size, enhanced features and technical specifications simply can’t support it."

They're really putting a ton of effort into this. H2A alone is worth the price of admission since I've never actually owned H2. Shame that Reach won't be getting any love, but it is the Master Chief collection after all.
Looks like I'll be picking up this and Sunset Overdrive this Fall.

Well your price of admission and my price of admission might be a bit different. This game would cost me somewhere in the ballpark of $500 when you include tax. As much as my nostalgia is screaming "Buy it! Buy it!" Logic is telling me I'll find myself replaying three games I have played to death over the last 5 years. Most likely, ALONE this time. Halo 2, I haven't played in probably seven years. I would love to play through that again. Halo:CEA I burnt myself out on while playing alone in 2011, Halo 3 I still consider the pinnacle of the series, but burnt out on it while playing off and on from 2008 to late 2010 and Halo 4 I don't plan on playing again for at least a year for several reasons. Please don't get me wrong. This is an extremely tantalizing package. It's to Halo what The Orange Box was to Half-Life. My issue is that I see myself experiencing this as a time suck more than a nostalgic trip down memory lane. I have all the achievements for these games minus Halo 2 and when I watch that Halo 2 multiplayer gameplay, as pretty as the graphics are, it's just so hard to shake that "been there, done that" feeling. Notice I keep using the word "alone". None of my friends actively play video games anymore and time zones kill our community play time. I see myself collecting half of the achievements for each game over the course of a month, and then totally burning out, only to return maybe once a year to try and mop up the rest. On top of all this, a brand new Halo 5: Guardians is supposed to swoop in and grab even more of my precious few hours of weekly game time in 2015? I'm sorry. Halo may have been like a religion in 2007 but I just don't have the time, money and patience to buy any Halo games in the foreseeable future.

Well yeah, it's worth the price of admission for someone like myself who already owns the console. At $60 this is a steal IMO, but if you don't own the console there's no reason to throw down $560 for an anthology of games you've played to death.

Yeah. It would only be $460 for me but after tax it rounds up to about an even $500. I think instead of dropping serious bank on an Xbox One and this collection I'm going to go buy a copy of Halo 2 and just experience it that way at least to take the edge off of the fact that I won't be able to play the Anniversary edition. It's been about 7 years since I played it.

This Halo pack made me have a Gollum style debate on whether I should get an xbone. Halo 2/3 were to me what PD and Goldeneye were to JMM. a lot like Bilbo and the Ring at the end of Return of the King, I would very much like to play them again.

In defense of Halo 3 on Xbone, if it fixes the whole growing old while waiting for a campaign level to load, I support. Probably the worst technical hiccup of the series.

Halo 5 Beta coming this December.
Something tells me the Arbiter is going to play a big role in the future of the franchise. Why does 343i always have to piggy back an advertisement for their next big Halo game on top of a remake of a one of the good Bungie installments? I expect 2017 will see some kind of remake of Halo 3 with Beta access for Halo 6.

I can't say I really like this. Yes, the graphics put everything we've see up to this point to shame but it begs to question "Why didn't they just shoot the whole thing live action? Or paint over the original graphics?" Unless it's in-engine it's just Final Fantasy smoke & mirrors eye candy on the level of a transformers action scene. If I was to get this collection, I would really hope there was an option for original cut-scenes. None of the characters look right and retrofitting their lips to sync with the original recorded dialogue looks obvious. I'm just aying these characters only vaugly resemble thire in-game counter-parts. Halo2 Halo 3 The new Miranda doesn't have a scar on her right brow, brown hair, or proper hair configuration. Seriously, if it wasn't for the name tag and voice, I wouldn't have known it was her. 343i is screwing up all of Bungies design and don't say it's just graphical advancement five games spanning two generations got Cortana right.

You just can't beat Sgt. Avery Johnson. I also find it quite poetic that Bungie will have to compete with the very franchise that put them on the gaming map.

It's a horribly mashed Johnson quote... Had to look it up after I posted that to see just how wrong I got it...
