A question from @saintoffortune2
"in resident evil 2 is there gameplay difference with leon and Claire like there was with chris and jill? such as a larger inventory or skiping a boss."
It was too big of a question to answer in the shout box so I made this thread.
There isn't a "gameplay difference" the difference is in the story, the characters you meet and the parts of the map you explore i.e certain doors wont open and you wont visit certain areas depending on who you play as and yes bosses are different.
It is a little like Res 1, in that sense but amplified. It works like this, leon and claire meet in the first cut scene but right at the start you are separated. So you both take different paths to the police station. I would urge you to play as Leon, it feels like his path on the streets is longer, he also gets to visit the gun shop. When you leave the gun shop make sure you turn around and got back I made the mistake of not doing so when I first played the game (I was too scared of what I would find in there) you get a shogun if you do.
When you complete the game, you can play from claire's side as leon, the story is different again! You can do this with claire too so technically there are 4 variations of the game you can play!
The game MIGHT be easier with claire (I am not sure about that) but I have always enjoyed chirs' story better.
Out of interest what console did you buy it for?

I thought you enter the gunshop as Claire as well, it's just that you get a crossbow instead of a shotgun?

Oh wait! you are right foof... oops! regardless of who you pick you start at the same side of the truck, it is only when you play for the second time is when you start of the other side of the truck! That is weird, because I always pick Leon first my brain just tells me claire is on the other side :S silly me. But as I said there are 4 different variations.

On the pc version i played, there was 4 choices. Leon A, Leon B, Claire A, Claire B. Not sure what the differences are between A and B though.

Game B for each of the characters is played from the other side of the truck, it feels very different. From memory you are being chased about the game by "Mr X" ^This guy... all I can say is run!

You HAVE to play it, that is an order! On a serious note, my friend thinks resident evil 3 is the best, I would say 2 is the best. He likes 3 more because you get to roam the streets way more which is a fair point. If you get a chance Code Veronica is a nice game if you need another Res fix

There is no reason not to get the HD version, the only negative with it is its slightly darker and it might cost more. Of course the upside is it looks a lot less blurry! You should probably play 2 and 3 first who knows CV might go on offer.
If you didn't know Resident Evil CV was originally going to be Resident Evil 3! It is the game with Claire and Chris.

All this talk about RE2 and RE3 really makes me want a remake. Would LOVE something to the liking of a Resident Evil Raccoon City Collection. Would it be so hard to remake those respective games to match REmake then put them with said title and REZero on one disc? They went and gave the Gamecube versions each there own disc and sold them for full price. There is no reason as to why the whole series hasn't seen life on HD consoles.
As far as what the best game in the series was, my personal favorite is REmake. It's atmosphere can't be beat. If not for that, RE2 is the clear winner.

Personally I enjoyed Resident Evil Revelations and while there was some action sequences in it I do think that for the most part it did a good job with the atmosphere and the scarce resources. As for the sequel I don't understand why they have to release it episodically (but hey that's Capcom for you) but I do think that it could be a good game and attempt to return to survival horror. Besides we get to play as Claire who we haven't seen since Code Veronica and that's always a plus

Hey @thedarkdefiance great to see you posting I would love see Capcom returning to Survival Horror I played a demo of Revelations and it wasn't a Survival Horror. I really dont know enough about the new one to comment.

Due to the poor reviews and low sales of Resident Evil 6 Capcom said that they would return to survival horror which is what I think they are trying to do with Revelations 2. However the only problem is that they believe that RE4 is a true survival horror and I just hope that they will realise what a Resident Evil game is supposed to be and not repeat their mistakes. Who knows I guess we will have to find out

I heard this a long time too. If they want to make more money the last thing they should do is make a Survival Horror game, they don't sell well.
