So I am thinking about finally getting an Xbox One. I wanted to get it for the upcoming MGS game but is it just me or is there very little difference in the two versions?

The difference between the two is that you can't be in party chat with me while you play MGS -Nods-
All in all, I'm happy with my xbone, though the 360 gets better free games with gold (Though that said, they did give you a free Worms game, and I'm all about the worms)

Also, it does look to me that the Xbone one is a bit sharper, but I wouldn't say it's worlds ahead... Though I seriously hope that the 360 version isn't that choppy

Microsoft: So you can chat to your friends WHILE PLAYING NEW GAMES!!!! Me: We can already ready do that on the 360. Microsoft: Yeah but the graphics are ever so slightly better!!! You can barely notice the difference but it IS better. Me: Shut up and take my money.... P.S. I don't think the 360 will be choppy, the footage is slow motion showing the frame rate, the Xbox One must have a higher frame rate.

Yeah, the game will run at 60 FPS on the Xbone as opposed to 30 on the 360 which makes a huge difference for a lot of people. I imagine they'll have the game running in 1080p as well, so the image quality is going to be significantly sharper. It's hard to appreciate the graphical/performance differences between versions when using a Youtube video for reference; especially when you consider YT's notoriously bad compression and the fact that most videos (like the one you posted) didn't support 60 FPS until recently. This is closer to the sort of experience you'll get on the Xbone: Does the bump in fidelity justify the purchase of an Xbone? Hard to say. If MGSV is the only game that makes you want to buy an Xbone and you're not a stickler for framerate, I'd say stick to the 360. Then again the Xbone probably isn't getting any cheaper for the next few years.

Does the bump in fidelity justify the purchase of an Xbone? Thanks for the detailed reply I think I need to get out of the mind set of buying a console for one game.... I just need to bite the bullet and buy one. Maybe there will be a good bundle with MGS, it does look like a good game to "break me it" (getting Xbone). Plus my birthday is in March....

First off. I need to play more games with more people. The party chat system fails to connect you 70% of the time and just connecting to a friend can be a 15 minute ordeal every time you try. However, I can't tell if thats the fault of the one guy I'm connecting to or the system itself. I only play Halo with him which is a broken game by itself so IDK. Also, if I ask the Xbone to do too much at once it freezes and unplugging it is all that fixes that issue. Xbox One is kinda broken right now. The 1080p/60fps is very noticeable, especially on FPS games, and running my X360 and XONE back to back (HDMI1/HDMI2 inputs) shows that the XONE is visually superior in every app/game, even if that superiority is minuscule. Also I want to point out that with MGSV being developed for both current and last gen consoles it's going to look and play beautifully, better on current gen, but ultimately it's not going to be constantly stunning like some of the built from-the-ground-up for next gen games will be. The Fox engine is beautiful. A true diamond dog, I love how the camera man films this part. What camera man? EXACTLY! If most of your friends have Xbox One than it's only a matter of time before you're going to get one right? I would say wait if not for the fact that I don't know what the hell is coming out on 360 this year but it looks pretty sparse. You might be the only guy you know playing MGSV on last-gen and I'm sure you can't play the multipayer from that game with me if you don't upgrade. On MGS: I've been catching up on all the footage from The Phantom Pain in the last few weeks and it's easily my most anticipated game of 2015. Yes, it barely beats Zelda U. It looks like their finally making a MGS game that isnt an hour of cut-scenes for every 5 minutes of gameplay and the story doesn't seem nearly as convoluted or contrived. I like the stealth-Rambo vibe i get from it with the cinematic camera and the animation being right out of a war movie the music is impressive as well. MGSV takes place in the 80's and looks the part for sure. It seems to blend action and stealth better than any game in recent memory. Better than any MGS to come before it. I'm getting it on Xbox One because it will look better on that console than X360. It looks solid, pardon the pun. They say this is Kojimas last original Metal Gear, and hes going to remake MGS1/2 with the Fox engine after this. If that is true paint me double excited.

I think upgrading would do you good there is alot to offer on the xbox One and phil Spence (new head of microsoft xbox division) is trying to get more out of rare it will be intresting... also you can praise the sun in HD :3 but serioulsly i tried sunset overdrive Killer Instinct (my hype game) and also i think games for gold might switch the 1 game to a 2 game format seeing how many game get released in the xbox One but a big reason is also to play with your friends... its a huge aspect of the xbox one
anyway you can still wait if you believe there is not enough in it for you yet but we all know this upgrade will be for the best

As far as games go, right now the Xbox One library is extremely sparse. I don't see anything exciting coming to Xbox 360. I mean, if Resident Evil Remastered had been announced 9 months later it's likely it would be a current-gen exclusive. That's how fast the X360 is phasing out now. Unless you've played Sunset Overdrive and loved it, it's not worth buying a whole console for. Same for Forza, Dying Light, and Dead Rising 3. We just haven't seen that killer app yet. All the great games like Shadow of Mordor, Far Cry 4, GTAV, etc. are available on Xbox 360 anyway.
On that note, I don't expect Black Ops 3 will even be coming out on X360 this year and if it does, it's going to be extremely watered down in every way. Hell, the X360 version of Advanced Warfare felt like a beta and looked like an alpha. Once games like COD jump ship, it's pretty much over.
Maybe wait a bit longer. Decide on a price (within reson) your willing to pay for an Xbone and wait until the price drops into that ballpark. It seems like every few months Microsoft temporarily drops the price by $50 and throws in an extra game so I would wait for that deal.
Or don't wait. I didn't because I followed all of my friends, Halo, and a very reasonable price tag onto the Xbox One and I'm happy that this generations major console purchase is over with, and I can look forward to my most anticipated games. I think the Xbone is on sale once again in the UK.
The current-gen exclusives are coming. Arkham Knight, Witcher 3, Fable Legends, Halo 5, Ori, Tomb Raider, and more. I expect Metal Gear Solid V is going to be what we all thought GTAV was, and that is the last great Xbox 360 title. Though I'm still baffled by how they will pull it off. I've wanted MGS4 on X360 for years now and I always heard it would require around 8 discs so it wasnt practical. I wonder how The Phantom Pain is going to be so different that it will only require three at most. We already know it's technically superior.....
P.S. If you want to play MGSV at launch on XONE you have till September 1st to get one.

That's the thing about discovering how to work with the hardware... the better you get at coding for a specific console, the more you can condense your coding to do the same job, you find shortcuts and easier ways to do stuff, and all of a sudden, a 20gb game becomes 5gb

If Kojima would bring MGS V to pc, then I would say get a far superior pc than you have now. Build it yourself and save a lot of cash too.

That would cost a lot more than £300, I guess I have always been more of a console gamer anyway.

That would cost a lot more than £300, I guess I have always been more of a console gamer anyway. You can get one that could run pretty much anything with ease for about $2000 dollars. That's if you build it yourself though, because pre built ones are rip offs. Here's a good site to find out what to put in a computer. www.logicalincrements.com/
