The main reason I'm hyped is that when I really think about it, and when you consider the sheer volume of games on this disc, it's probably the best collection of games we've seen those date. The retro NES games seem to be hogging the spotlight so far but when you stand back and really look at it, you have a handful of the best games the N64 had, a handful of Xbox 360 games, and quite bunch of all but forgotten classics from the NES, which by the way, haven't seen life on any other console for 20+ years. I love even the concept of this collection.

the only thing that rubs me wrong about the collection is that the game I REALLY want (PD, BK, Conker, etc) I already own and once the backwards compatibilty thing goes public, I'll be able to play.
So in a sense, Microsoft WILL be charging me to play games I've already bought, despite their claims at E3.

That's the double edged sword in backwards compatibility, and one many developers are going to consider when giving certain games the go-ahead for backwards compatibility on Xbox One. I can see it now.....
Activision denies backwards compatibility for the three Modern Warfare games. "Let them beg for it, and create a demand." they'll say, and believe me they will. Two long years will pass when in 2017 they announce COD: Modern Warfare Anniversary Collection. It will hype, it will sell. Why? Because nothing makes people want something more than when they can't have it. Activision will play them for fools.
In your case greeny, if I was trying to sell you on this collection I would invite you to ask yourself just how many of the 30 games have you played. There is more than just Banjo, Dark, and Conked on this collection that make this collection a great one.

There are around ten "must play before you die" titles on the disc. Ten more that nobody could have a strong case in labeling as "bad". (Talking about most the post-Nintendo Rare there.) The rest are too obscure to tell if they will suit the modern gamers we've all become or not.

I'm kind of wondering if Conker or any of the non-XBLA 64 era games in this will see technical improvements. I love CBFD to death, but it's creaking framerate really isn't acceptable in this day and age. Ideally, every game in this package will be running at 60 FPS. If not, I'm actually not sure I'll pick this up. I already own BK, BT, and PD on 360, and if I want to play Conker in all its sub-20 FPS glory without a CRT filter I might as well just dust off my N64. Okay this is what I've gathered from my friend at Rare.Ltd. He can't comment on frame-rate because he doesn't know. He's pretty much working on Sea of Thieves exclusively. I would really hope to the point of assumption that these games are being play tested and if the frame-rate is an issue, it would be tweaked. The Xbox 360 games will run exactly as they did on Xbox 360. No improvements to speak of, and practically what you would get through backwards compatibility. (This may include the ability to transfer your 360 save files to Rare Replay) If they didn't come out in HD, they won't be HD in this collection and thus will have boarders. This includes CBFD, but does not include the XBLA versions of Banjo and Perfect Dark which WILL be the versions in Rare Replay. Essentially, the latest version of the game is what making it on the disc accept CBFD. For better or worse that's N64 all the way. The CRT filter is 100% optional.

i cant wait to return to killer instinct Gold i loved that game despite the awful controll of the N64... i think the outlandish cast was part of the reason but it just spelled fun all around like Jet Force Gemini i just open the memories flood gates ironicly it said only for Nintendo 64

I get excited all over again when I see this picture and know that 7 of ten of the best games on the N64 are coming to Xbox one in under 2 months.

That only goes to show how much value is still, well, valued and how important the last 30 years of games are to todays audience.
I know I could start a storm of a flame war with this, but when looking back at all the AAA full featured first-person shooters in history, Perfect Dark is still at the top of the list when it comes to value. Yeah, you could triple the lifespan found in Perfect Dark in Call of Duty with its online component, but when you take out the online element, 95% of FPS to date, just don't stand up. I challenge anyone who opposes this point to 100% Perfect Dark in less time than any Halo, COD, Battlefield, etc. I'm not even talking about achievements. That's JUST perfect Dark. A game that was worth $50 in the year 2000 and worth at least $10 all by itself in todays marketplace.
So knowing that, I pre-ordered Rare Replay a mere 2 hours after it was announced. Charging $1 for Perfect Dark should make charging $60 for Battlefront Ea a crime. If you look at it subjectively, Perfect Dark is still worth $50.

I put together alittle background for my Xbox One Dashboard. It's my first attempt at a making one and the only Rareware themed Xbox One background I know of. It looks pretty good on the Xbox One. Hopefully some great retro themed Achievement Art will come with the actual game to replace this but until then. Yep.

You can't bring the entire theme, but you can look up one 1920x1080 image from the theme and post that to the background. Like this one: But thats all you will see, all of the time. Right now, you only really see the top and bottom of the image most of the time. With the Rareware theme I made, you can only see the line of logos at the bottom (hence why I put them there) and Joanna and Conker banners peeking over the tiles at the top. The rest is blocked. I have transparent tiles turned on and a like color theme but it's still obscured. That's the long way of saying that if your Xbox One background isnt made specifically for the dashboard, the focal point is likely to be blocked. Of course when the dashboard changes this fall, you will be able to see more of the background more often when going through your recently played list that the dashboard defaults you to, but most of the middle will still be blocked by dashboard content depending on what your looking at, just less than the current version where I never see the CRT or the banners past the first two. Clear as mud?

In that case I might steal your background. I ordered an Xbox One today, it came with two free games which I hope to sell on Ebay to help pay for the console Its going to be a tight month!
