Maybe..... that's right I said it! I am not really that big into the Lord of the Rings movies and I can only assume this game is based on the book/movie? I am in work so I cant watch this with sound.
I am saying maybe because it looks a bit like Dark Souls.lol

Nah, it's not based on the books or movies at all... It's set in the universe as a non-canon side story

That way they dont have to pay the people who made the movie but they have to pay whoever owns the rights to the book

I don't mind who they pay, as long as they make a quality game, which this really does look like so far

It would be interesting to see how it compares to Dark Souls.

Well comparing it to Dark souls would be like comparing Arkham City, or Assassin's Creed to Dark Souls. This is an action/adventure game that looks like a mix between Arkham and Assassin.
Unless your a huge fan of the genre at large and really enjoyed the two above mentioned games, than this game would only appeal to the hardcore Rings fans. I loved the movies and played many of the games and other than the Two Towers and ROTK games by EA, I have been less than impressed. I'm hoping this is the game that puts LOTR back on the scene in the industry.

Oh ok, I dont know why I though this was a role playing game.

Well I would appreciate some role-playing elements if only to extend the game. New Game Plus would be great too.

In Dark Souls 2 you have to play new game plus 2 to get all the achievements, it gets harder with more enemies each replay.

That's the same as Rogue Legacy, a Steam game, only you have to complete new game +1... Great thing about that game though, enemies come generally in three distinct tiers... To take one of the simpler enemies, it's a stationary eyeball that fires a single projectile at you, there are four areas of the castle and by the third area you don't encounter these eyeballs anymore, but you find their upgraded partners, which shoot five in quick succession, then there's the kinds "miniboss" ones though they're not quite at miniboss status... They appear in special rooms... they fire off 15 shots, in bursts of threes, one right at you and one to either side... Come new game +1, all the single firing eyeballs in the game have been replaced with the 5-shot one... New game +2 replaces them all with the 15 shot one, so it's not just a matter of stat increases (which they get anyway) it's a matter of it being a whole lot tougher

I don't know why more games don't have new game +1 it adds so much more reply value.

Especially games that are single-player only. I mean, do they really expect gamers to beat the game, then delete their progress and do it all again in order to get their moneys worth?
Some of the best games at least have unlockables for beating the game in a certain time or doing something special. I've been playing MGS:Twin Snakes and Resident Evil Remake lately and while both don't quite have what we would call a New Game Plus, they do have unlocks that make you want to play through the game again.
In MGS you have to beat the game two or even three times to unlock everything and by then you've unlocked active camo and unlimited ammo which turns the stealth sandbox upside down and allows for some really tricky scenarios. Collect all dog tags.
In Resident Evil beating the game any way gets you alternate costumes but beating it in five or even three hours gets you some awesome weapons that really change the way you play and approach things. I like the idea of playing a survival horror slow, safe, and conservative the first time around (as it was meant) but going through with an unlimited ammo Beretta the second time. That change to the offensive side of game play makes ALL the difference.
