What a boring topic. *YAWN* Then why comment? If it's boring to you it's boring to you, no need to address it to the world in order to feel superior. Not to feel superior. I'm such so tired of SJW idiocy. They don't deserve counter-arguments. They deserve mockery and contempt.

SJW's are dumb, only problem is people listen to the,. We don't know why Street Fighter 5 has been censored but if it's to do with SJW's Capcom needs to know they shouldn't be listened to. Also if this was an ESRB or PEGI think (highly doubtful) I'll be ok with the changes but annoyed they didn't just say "fuck it" like Rocksteady did with Arkham Knight.

I don't want that from Metal Gear Solid... Well, sorry you don't like it. It's a shame that we get arguably the best MGS in terms of gameplay, and the worst in terms of story. Still, it's better than 90% of the story I see come out of other "AAA" games. Whatever "AAA" means anymore. I know I've said it before but MGSV is a great game. Is it the perfect 10/10 some gave it? I don't think so. It's not even my favorite Metal Gear, but I would give it a solid 9.0 or thereabouts. I was too busy playing RE4 to know, but I wonder if people were split on RE4 when it came out the same way as this. It's a similar scenario with it being a swan song title in a highly popular franchise he started.

It's a similar scenario with it being a swan song title in a highly popular franchise he started. I don't agree that it's better than 90% of the story in other "AAA" games. Maybe this year it's got a better story but only because it's related to MGS. I think at first RE4 was split, I wasn't a real Resident Evil fan until 2007 maybe, I knew of Resident Evil and played the Remake on Gamecube but I was too dumb and impatient as a kid to give it a proper run. But I think I can remember reading somewhere in one of the gaming magazines about RE4 being split. Problem is though, some disagree with me on this, but most agree that Resident Evil 4 didn't disappoint on Story or Characters and definitely not on Gameplay. Yes it changed the Gameplay like MGSV but it isn't boring and the environments are fun and interesting to explore. If MGSV had better environments and a better story I would like it because I would be encouraged to use all the new gameplay features. You said the missions have many tasks to 100% and get more out of the missions but most just ended with a page saying something like "Boss.. That prisoner you rescued had valuable information blah blah blah." I want a cutscene, I want interesting characters, I want to infiltrate a camp to rescue a character and not a blank prisoner. When you rescue a bunch of Prisoners and they're all men but you find a woman, I want to know Why is there a woman? Is she a badass? Why is she important? Why does she have valuable information? Why can't she be an awesome character instead of just another Prisoner? You know maybe we should make a different thread to discuss this or is there a thread we can discuss this? I haven't had a proper in depth discussion with anyone and I mean anyone on MGSV.

I'm not sure Kojima was going for that kind of depth with MGSV. I still think the missing ending makes for an overall weaker story, but whats there, matches the tone of the superb gameplay.
My wife asked me to describe MGSV to her, and strangely enough I went right to "It's a game that gives you everything you could want in and interactive Rambo experience, minus the lack of realism those movies have. That serves to both give the game challenge and make you feel all the more badass when you do things right. The game is so well designed and thought out that total stealth is a practical option for almost every mission."
It was easy to just sneak around, tranq the two guards in my way, then go for the kill and get out. It's the same rush I get when I'm playing assassin's Creed and everything goes right which it rarely does in that series. In MGSV, when things go wrong, it's your fault, and not the developers poor camera placement or linearity. You can approach almost every mission from any angle and be successful if you think things through. Then you have those extra tasks that up the difficulty and length of the mission and have you learning more about the mission. That, along with it's technical quality, and all the interesting unlockables, is what puts The Phantom Pain a cut above the rest in the stealth action/adventure genre.

If we talk about Spoilers should we use the Spoiler warning thing or is it open spoilers?
My problems with the story is much more than the missing ending, PC users have found out there was a whole missing Chapter and maybe even more than one missing chapter.
My biggest problem with the main missions is how similar they are to one another, some are very similar to the side ops and while there is the extra tasks some of those extra tasks don't really add anything other than a "did you know you could do this?" type thing which is a nice way of forcing experimentation but I want to experiment on my own and I think the playground that Kojima created doesn't encourage experimentation because while every approach is a viable way to go, stealth is always the best way, Quiet with a Silencer is incredibly OP, without the Silencer in some Situations even more OP because everybody leaves the camp looking for her.
The game is fun, but I personally think the reason it go so many great reviews was because the reviewers weren't aloud to play the game without a rep accompanying them so as a result they had someone whispering "Look at this, look at that, isn't that cool? Look at all these tricks you can do with a cardboard box." Reviewers are like "Whoa look at all this amazing stuff 9/10 10/10" But in reality the Cardboard box is there for messing around in, yes it's a nice distraction sticking sexy ladies on it and tricking guards or leaping out or using it as a surfboard, but it's a distraction in a playground that doesn't have anything fun to do in it.
Kojima said himself "Please don't spend too long in the open world as you will get bored, it's important to stop playing from time to time or return to Motherbase for a break." I'm not a big fan of Grand Theft Auto but I don't get bored running around in the city, I didn't get bored running around in Red Dead Redemption, I didn't get bored running around in Infamous 1 or 2 in fact I don't get bored running around in most open world games because there's a lot of fun stuff to do.
Afghanistan and Africa should've been awesome but they feel exactly the same and both have the same stuff to do in them. None have a defining feature outside of the different Story missions and again I believe PC users found out there was supposed to be a third area. (I might be wrong on the third area thing)
Someone at Gametrailers summed up their disappointment of MGSV and I totally agree with this "You can see where they ran out of money and started finishing the game." In the main missions when you finish Chapter 1 and you start Chapter 2 and you get that little teaser it's like "YES this is when the real Metal Gear Solid V starts." but most of those missions are just replays or harder versions of old missions.
I think where Metal Gear Solid V is at it's strongest is when you look at it as a tech demo for what Metal Gear Solid V could be. No real direction, a bunch of toys and a bunch of pretty simple missions with extra tasks. It feels like an over grown Tech Demo to sell to a publisher.
I can see why Kojima stopped getting funds for the game because it grew too big, had no real direction and probably needed to be torn down and delayed for 2 to 3 more years to rebuild it into something with a purpose. Because all these open world games Kojima loves and wanted to recreate with MGSV all have direction in their open world, everything is created with such care and precision that it's a joy to just ride your horse in Red Dead and look at abandoned buildings or explore mansions that totally aren't haunted but feel haunted because of the atmosphere. MGSV's open worlds lack the atmosphere or care, it all went into the gameplay.
It's like when I was a kid and I went to the park, there's that awesome park where I go and have fun for the whole day or there's the crappy park where if I don't bring my own entertainment I get bored within the hour and want to go home. For me MGSV is the latter, the gameplay is my own entertainment but there's only so much I can do with it before I get bored.
Then if we were to talk about the story but I'll wait until we decide if we're doing open spoilers or not before I get on to that. Plus this post is massive.
I do agree that failure is rarely the games fault, I say rarely because I got stuck on a rock and spotted and another time I couldn't aim at someone because the camera kept freaking out because I was too close to a wall.
This is my opinion of the game. I know others are wowed by the amount of gameplay but I need more than that, especially in a Metal Gear title. I was going to end the post here but I want to tell you of a better example.
Devil May Cry 4, on it's own is a good action game. You play it you have fun. It gives you tools to increase that fun and the game encourages you to use those tools, to get better, to learn new things, to experiment. You can kill this enemy in a few hits or you can draw it out and pull off an amazing combo. Devil May Cry encourages you to use it's gameplay by having interesting characters, interesting enemies and an interesting environment.

Complete the game first. She has a very good reason for being, well, quiet. On the subject of her appearance, she was a little too fanservicey for my tastes. Important to keep in mind though that this sort of thing is common in Japanese media.
Liked her as a character though. Especially after the events of mission 45. Oh, and this:
Speaks for itself I think.

Complete the game first. She has a very good reason for being, well, quiet. On the subject of her appearance, she was a little too fanservicey for my tastes. Important to keep in mind though that this sort of thing is common in Japanese media. I've thought of Female Characters in Japan and localising them and stuff. Like in Metroid Other M in Japan the way Samus is depicted is a very strong character but over here it's emotionless and robotic, then with a lot of female characters being overtly sexy and wearing revealing outfits I've talked to people and they've said that's heavy Japanese culture as well as their Feminists. Kill la Kill is a Feminist anime over there but over here the majority of feminists hate it. What I'm trying to say is, when you have a Character like Quiet do you think it should be changed? I don't because I want the Japanese product because I am playing a Japanese game after all. Also if you've seen my other posts I think Quiet looks awesome, I grew up watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Xena Warrior Princess as well as some other stuff with leading ladies so I tend to prefer stuff with strong female characters and because Buffy and Xena were insanely sexy I also don't care what they wear as long as the characters are badass. Depending on the game or tv show or whatever sometimes I prefer the more sexy designs or the more normal designs, it's all about context. Like in Metal Gear I don't think a woman wearing a Bikini in battle is out of place as what many people think it is, If Quiet was in Call of Duty then yeah she'll be out of place.

Complete the game first. She has a very good reason for being, well, quiet. Like I said before I keep hearing the "it's okay they explain that in the story" argument and it makes me angry. Who do you think writes the story?! Whether the game explains something is irrelevant the problem is still there. What if Snake had a penis growing out of his head, there it was the whole game flopping about getting in the way. You tell people about how you don't like how Snake now has an extra penis on his head and they say "it's okay they explain that in the story". Is that really going to make me feel better? No because I still have to play the whole game like that. This is not like child birth, I am not going to watch a cut scene at the end of the game and think, well that was bad at the time but now that I have watch the ending it was all worth it!

Why does it matter what she wears? D-dog is naked too. She serves as a buddy, as a character with background and some personality, and huge service to anyone who enjoys admiring the female body. Her song is also beautiful and one of the best in the series.

Again you are missing my point, I will just quote myself from the original post. I thought not being able to talk made her completely shallow compared to say Sniper Wolf in MGS1. *Edit: I can see why my anecdote of a penis on Snakes head has made you think I want to censor nudity I was just trying to think of the most bizarre thing I could. I could have said what about the fact Snake only has a few lines of dialogue (another thing "The story explains" that I am pissed about) but it wouldn't have the same impact on my post.

At least it's a good game. That's why we're on this forum right? To enjoy good games? Can we leave this "SJW", misogynist, gamergate horseshit behind?
We've been around a long time now and we've been successful in staying away from the maelstrom of malcontent that wider gaming culture has submitted to. Would Cortana being naked make Halo any better? would an arse shot make street fighter any better? would MGS V be any worse or better if Quiet had a sports bra on? I don't know. What I do know is that those are the wrong questions.

I really don't know how I can make myself any clearer I may even have to resort to using caps lock....
I don't care about SJW, I don't care about nudity. What I care about is having deep characters like in the early MGS games. Snake, Revolver Ocelot, Sniper Wolf, Psycho Mantis etc are characters I will never forget because of the dialogue before and after each fight. Tits and Ass are great and all but is it as good as a deep meaning full conversation with Psycho Mantis? I will let you decide.

I want Developers to feel free to make what they want and I want Gamers to play what they want.

You've said that Quiet being Naked isn't the problem and you want a deep character saying that a character only for sex appeal isn't deep, which I agree something designed purely for sex appeal will never be deep. Quiet is sex appeal, her outfit is sex appeal... but her characterisation and story is what makes her a deep character. She didn't need to talk because her actions spoke louder than words, her facial expressions, animations, everything about Quiet makes her a good character. Psycho Mantis is great but Quiet is a different type of character, a character that is hard to get right. It's like the whole Actors don't want to wear masks when they play superheroes because they are worried they can't connect with the audience when they wear the mask. Removing the ability to speak is a hurdle the creators have placed in between the character and audience and maybe some people can't get over it, maybe some need to see her story form beginning to end to get over it, for me the hurdle disappeared when she wanted to go on a mission with me. If I misinterpreted you use caps lock.
