which I agree something designed purely for sex appeal will never be deep. That's all I wanted to know. Interesting insight into the whole model/actor's wearing masks thing tho. I guess It is a partly "boring" thing to talk about I am just a little annoyed that the characters were not as good as I hoped.

I really don't know how I can make myself any clearer I may even have to resort to using caps lock.... I don't care about SJW, I don't care about nudity. What I care about is having deep characters like in the early MGS games. Snake, Revolver Ocelot, Sniper Wolf, Psycho Mantis etc are characters I will never forget because of the dialogue before and after each fight. Tits and Ass are great and all but is it as good as a deep meaning full conversation with Psycho Mantis? I will let you decide. She has just as much personality as any of those characters IMO (not that it's too hard to have more depth than mustache-twirling villains and hardened military types). Her depth comes from cutscenes like the one I posted and her non-verbal actions throughout the game. I'd still suggest finishing the game and completing mission 45; may or may not put things in a different perspective.

Okay I can see we aren't going to agree and I need to complete the game before I make my mind up on Quite. Can we agree that Snake Character isn't as good as in the other MGS games? Considering he only has about 2 words of dialogue in each cut scene. and please don't use the "They explain that in the story" argument.

In all seriousness the new Snake is boring and has the dopiest expression I've ever seen for like 90% of the game. The story explanation explains it but unlike Quiet you don't sense a deeper character or find a deeper character the further you go into the story.

I think Snake and Quiet are both justified for the story thats told on them....
and I really don't care if anyone disagrees at this point. They screwed alot of stuff up in the endings and lack there of but I still stand by what i said a few days ago. If Kojima was going for an interactive 80's action movie than he nailed it. Every deployment is like another action scene...
and I like it.

I don't think Kojimas intention was to make an epic swan song game that would tie up any loose ends from previous games in the lore. He was just trying to make a good game, fill in some gaps, and explore who Venom Snake really is in all of this...
It's hard to explain. What if you had to watch each "part" of Pulp Fiction one at a time, over 15 years? What if MGSV was just one of those parts to a bigger story. Maybe just the Butch/Zed part. Barely related to Travolta's movie spanning journey, but he makes a quick appearance....
I had some big problems with MGSV when I first beat it, but the more I think about it, the more I understand how well it fits into the lore, and just how great MGSV is as a stand-alone part of a bigger story. MGSV is not the end for Big Boss or Solid Snake. It's just another piece of the bigger picture.
I know it's a bold statement, but MGSV is more of a video game than the other installments. The story is almost aware of that fact. I had written a book on this, but my laptop died as I was writing it...

I'll definitely read your book but I personally think Kojima almost failed at every point with MGSV. The Fox Engine is brilliant achieving 60fps with these graphics is an amazing feat but how good an engine is doesn't impress me when I don't like the game using the engine. If it wasn't for Kaz and Quiet I probably would hate MGSV in a bad way, in an unhealthy way.

I can't rewrite it.
BIG SPOILERS BELOW: It was a long spiel about the relation between yourself and Venom Snake and on how Quiet is really just a blank slate to project your love (or hate) on as shes literally as naked as the game and possibly lore allows. The player uses her as a tool with only the cut-scenes there to remind you that you should care about this person. By the time you get a glimpse of who she is, you do begin to care, but it's too little, too late. You end up missing her as both a buddy, and a character you now know more about.
This game ends up having lots of near 4th-wall-breaking focus on the player. Judging on all the nods and general scenario, it knows it's a video game about as well as Rambo 2 knows it's an action movie. It's over the top, and it's not real. It's up to you to decide if that destroys all of the games credibility or not. When you take a good hard look at what MGSV is, you see that it's rather clever idea buried in a bed of action movie scenarios. As repetitive at they may be, the sandbox allows (and expects) YOU to stir things up, and use new developed items to experiment with. You use the benefits of having the keys to the castle this time around.
As a video "game" MGSV is the best in the series. The gameplay, graphics, sound, stealth options, customization etc. is top notch stuff even by today's standards. No button mashing, quick-time events, or odd camera placements to speak of. Ask, "What does this game allow the player to do?" Naturally, it exceeds what came before it. The game is much lighter in story driven cut-scenes we've come to expect, but whats there fits extremely well for being centered on a relatively average soldier as the hero, and if you check Venom Snakes stats, he is average.
Look at what we do learn by the end. What is left to be fulfilled or concluded for Venom Snake? He rescued important people, he loved and lost on the battlefield, got his revenge, brought the legend back to life, and fulfilled his purpose as Venom Snake which eventually leads us into Metal Gear. There is a missing ending that leaves unanswered questions, but otherwise it's hard to expect much else once you realize what "V" means and "The man who sold the world". It's not as "signature Metal Gear" as previous titles, but denying the creativity, and tools at your disposal in the later game only communicates that you have yet to experience all it has to offer.
For the record, MGS1 is still my favorite. Much better story than MGSV and it gets me with that. Story is powerful and important. I can see why people are disappointed. I only mean to highlight what MGSV is at it's core, and the things it DOES get very right.

IMO as far as gameplay goes mgs4 is the best, it takes everything i love about snake eater and turns it up to ten. I know some people think mgsv is the best gameplay experince in the series but for me its just too generic.
