An extended trailer from E3 2014
This actually looks really good. I'm expecting hour long cut-scenes and lots of down time for story sake but that's the nature of the beast. I can't wait.

The motion capture work in this is incredible; 2:28 in particular is just jaw-dropping.

this game is looking pretty cool but since I'm not the biggest metal gear fan I'm just going to wait for the inevitable compilation of both ground zeroes and the phantom pain. Me too. Unless the reviews paint it as a revolutionary title and a must own, I'm going to wait for the inevitable, and c'mon guys, it's fine suitable, that the 2016 Metal Gear Solid Remake, MGS2/3/4/5 will all be bundled together in 2018 for XONE/PS4. Yeah, I can only use my time machine once every 5 years. Went to 2020. No perfect dark sequel and Goldeneye 64 is all but forgotten.

Here is a picture Kojima used to communicate the sheer size of the playable area of The Phantom Pain in comparison the the playable area of all the previous main installments. The bright desert-like part is the Phantom Pain map. All previous games can fit into the play space easily.

I think the the bright part is the whole map. And the lower part is highlighted to contrast the entirely play space of certain games. I'm not sure but it looks like. Or is implied that there won't be the backtracking of previous games to pad the length of actual play time.

First off, here is Kojima himself answering a few questions.
Alright! So it's coming out on September 1st, it's Kojimas last MGS game, it has a collectors edition, and said collectors edition costs $100.

Now, a gameplay demo for MGOnline with commentary.
The demo makes it look really fun but I wonder if in practice, it's just going to be another frag fest with stealth takng a backseat to just "kill all enemy players" style.

Blade Runner 07 What's the red bionic arm Snake has? Does he lose one of his arms during the course of the game or something?

Hey hey. There be spoilers in that explanation. Play ground zeros for the answer.

Hey hey. There be spoilers in that explanation. Play ground zeros for the answer. Reminds me of Cunningham's artificial leg from Portable Ops. I guess it was Snake's turn to lose a limb this time. Losing an eye isn't enough to Hideo Kojima apparently. It seems as though the longer the series goes on, more people become more of a machine than a man. Null AKA Gray Fox, Cunningham, Python, Raiden, and now apparently Snake to name a few.

Yeah I'm sure the eye patch is more of a style choice on Kojimas part. Even the "original" MGSolid Snake got one when he was Old Snake in MGS4. I imagine it's to better match the escape from New York snake. Like the smokes, and raspy voice, it's a stereotypical tough guy thing... Meet Plissken. (Two S's) Look at Snakes head in MGSV. Hes got a piece of shrapnel embedded in his freakin skull, man! I call anyone Big Boss if hes got that much damage. Not to mention some serious PTSD now, and still fighting. I've heard this ones even gonna tie into the original Metal Gear(NES). Rumors of course.

As far as anyone is concerned, he IS Snake.

While I agree with you and firmly believe that Solid Snake and David Hayter look and sound the same and thus should always go hand in hand, I never liked the Jango Fett clone voicing idea for Big Boss. Lots of things effect vocal sound in a person's life.
I think Big Boss should be voice by someone else. I just have a problem with big name voice acting. It's a little ridiculous who they got to play Big Boss in MGSV. This is a game that I very very much doubt is going to sell more copies just because that guy from 24 is involved. So he gets another paycheck and some cheaper, new blood, Hayter sound alike won't be getting his big break. Like I said, ridiculous.
